I get it now attach rate
when your buying a brand new game thats because you want to play it on your console like you'll enjoy it more,used games you buy because there cheap and you probably end up giving it or selling it to a store

so attach rate is all loving in the console

Well, what I am trying to say is, there probably shouldnt be a poll since it doesnt cover all circumstances.  It should just be done manually, like the other thread was.

Not exactly. Attach rate is used to determine how much software can be sold per PS3 owner or the relative health of a console's ability to produce revenue/sell software. It's basically putting a value on each owner. So if the attach rate is 4 and the console sales 100,000 more consoles for a week they could assume that 400,000 units of software will be sold over time for those 100,000. Obviously it's not 100% accurate and it's just theoretical estimates but that is the theory behind the attach rate. 

It should be noted that we are finding the attach rate differently compared to the normal method. Usually they divide the number of games sold at retail by the number of consoles purchased(life time) to find an average. However we are finding the number of games purchased per console and finding an average of those numbers. 

ok so why cant we put PSN games

becasue you have purchased the game new and still play it...like me...i ave played over 40games, all new btw, but i sell them to make money to pay for more games, so it makes sense to me, attach rate just means how many games have touched your system that the owner has owned

Well there is the other thread already and.. well the results speak for themselves. I hope you could figure it out over there. 

The reason I use a poll is because it could be tallied much easier. So even if there is not a specific option for every single number and it is theoretical that all 8 votes in the 17-20 category could be 17 games, it is more likely that the number of games owned is on average somewhere between 18-19 so a value of 18.5 for each 8 votes is pretty accurate. 

Also because surveys and polls are not time exact there could be a chance that someone buys a game, takes the poll, sells the game to someone else then that person takes the poll. Both people would then count the game as part of their attach rate. It is very unlikely that that would happen in this instance but it is the practice to exclude the used market that is always used in polls such as to calculate things like attach rate just in case the scenario does happen. If people only consider games that they purchased brand new then it doesn't matter when different people take the poll there is no chance of two people buying the same exact copy of a game brand new.

I don't get it.. why don't used games count?

Weren't they sold to another customer somewhere down the line and then sold to you? it makes no sense to me to leave them out.. I have like a few games that are used 1-3.. don't remember how many..
