then why bother with what....the dl version? well just to give people the option, some people would actually rather have the dl version of a game instead of the disc, i am actually one of those people, i prefer to have digital media than physical in most cases

There's no competition in PSP Go game prices, so why bother lowering them? At the end of the day, you have to pay Sony for the games, you don't have the choice in shopping around.

I can explain it in one way

Retail games will (almost) always be cheaper than downloadable equivalents, the cost to manufacture and ship the discs is fairly insignificant, and on consoles at least one company has a monopoly on all downloadable sales. As for why it's cheaper on the Iphone, it's a completely different market there - different customers and different competing games - if you want to make money on the app store you need a cheap price

So the reason for all 3 of these is that complex mathematical calculations determined that this would maximise the profit for the relevant companies.

Doesn't really hold true when you look at DD for PC games, though.  Games are almost invariable a decent amount cheaper than their boxed counterparts on Steam, and I'd imagine this is the same for other services as well.

Nope, it's $19.99 everywhere.   Still $10 cheaper than the PSP version though.

PSN normally sells games at RRP or just below RRP. Internet shops mostly sell UMDs at quite a good discount. I think it's publishers who decide the price though. A recent example on the EU store is Half minute hero £19.99 on PSN and £12.99 on Amazon. It could be that sony don't want to upset retailers, but I son't think it's that because I think publishers decide the price.
