Forums - Sony - Buzz Quiz World, PSN and reviewers!! Oh my!!

So, over the Christmas holidays I got Buzz! Quiz World and I was very happy about the game and throughly enjoyed it ... until I tried to go online. The servers are horrible and I managed to get through just a couple of times over say 30 attempts. On one of the instance I also got dc'ed from tge server.

PSN provides a great online service and it works wonders with KZ2, LBP and FIFA10 but I get the feeling that the less popular games are, erm, less well supported.

Anyway to get to my point, before making my purchase I scoured over reviews (as I always do) but there was no mention of problems with the online. Why is this? The problem is so blatant! In fact, I did come across this in the fora eventually. I feel that the same is happening with Heavy Rain. What the heck did the reviewers review? Why was there no mention of the glitches. VGC reviews also present these problems :(

End of rant - feedback!

i've had the UK version of the game , it doesn't have any lag at all. might be because of the US ? since well in the US hardly anyone buys it lol.

sorry i have Quiz T.v not Quiz world.

I'm from Malta Europe - the game does not lag but I have real trouble logging on the servers! It does not happen for any of my other games - spoke to customer support and basically got no feedback. On the internet I did find other a good number of other users who were experiencing this.

i edited my post i don't have this game i have the older one.

For some reason reviewers often skip most of the online features in a game. Even in shooters, where online is the focus of half the game (if not more), you'll often get nothing more than "And it has a great online mode too!" out of most people.

It's especially annoying when some shooters get near perfect scores despite having a completely broken multiplayer mode at launch. I can even think of some high scoring games where the multiplayer was never actually fixed, even years after release.

@ making: often reviewers are either doing special mp events for the test, as there is no one else online to play against (and debug kits are not able to connect to PSN for example). Therefore they are pitted against each other on specific events, so that they can test it. Because of the smaller scale, it's often easier to manage it all, and less bugs and stuff like that creep in, I think.

@ topic starter: about heavy Rain: I have the preview build, another preview build and a review build here. The preview build made me get stuck at a specific point; the second one fixed that problem and the review build never even glitched, it was a flawless game from front to back with me.

So maybe reviewers didn't mention it, because there was nothing to mention?

I have Quiz TV. Are the Buzz servers different for Quiz World, because I've never had a problem with Quiz TV online, and I've played it enough online to get the Gold trophy for playing 50 MyBuzz rounds.

Will do.

@papflesje: I know that is standard practice this day (and I'm not criticising reviewers, rather procedures) but don't you think it woulk make sense to review the copy that is going out to retail rather than a review copy? I think it ends up being false advertising otherwise.

On games with online: MAG scores for example are interesting. I'm sure reviews were based on beta rather than game play given that scores came out before the release of the game - I suppose even this is unfair :(
