Yes and no. The fall of Reach does occur before Halo CE but if you have ever read the book First Strike you find out other Spartans survived  and keep fighting the Covenant. After Halo CE Master Chief, Johnson and a few other Marines take control of a Covenant Cruiser and go to Reach and all sorts of fighting happens.

I havent read the book but have seen a summary of the plot. My guess is it start off before Halo CE and ends during the course of the book. Maybe a 'cliffhanger' leading to Halo 2. My other post was to make a point

guys bungie has ocnfirmed it will not follow the book fall of reach. It is a brand new story and you play as a spartan III not a spartan II.

Have Reach be the story to set up Master Chief would be cool. 

I would say MAG level number of players in combat (over 200) would be awesome though.
