I don't, which is why I never said, "every game dev is single."

This list seems odd. Junior Programmers in mobile gaming usually sign for 30K and are bumped up to 45K after probation. I do not live in a larger city where they would pay more.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Good luck living on 30k though. That's barely enough to afford a nice apartment..

If a person with no kids can't survive off of $30k-$60k a year, they're doing something wrong.  Hell, my mom was a single mother and she never made anywhere near $40k and se still kept food on the table... and we were both obese back then so there was actually excess food on the table.  These game devs sound like a bunch of crybabies imo.  The should try bringing their lunch to work or getting a $1 McChicken/McDouble rather than starting every day with a $5 Starbucks latte and a $7 bagel, spending $10 for lunch and then capping it off with a $14 sushi dinner.

You also may just want to buy your standard $2-3 a gallon Kroger brand milk rather than going to Whole Foods and paying $15 a pint for 100% organic, non-pasturized, squeezed fresh every morning, and guaranteed to have a cow tit hair in every bottle so you know it's ultra fresh milk.

LOL where have you been this year! Best new poster hands down! You made me seriously laugh out loud.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

You appear to have no fucking clue what the world is like outside your little bubble so let me paint a not so nice picture for you.

Me, 24 at the time making 80k/yr, At the low end of the income scale for the Small Town <- I live in. Now where I come from that would be the top say 15 20% ish that make that and average income would be about 50k and half the cost of living.

Its not about organic food or starbucks its about the cost of living where you live, period.

Seriously Random Canadian. These are not high school drop outs, most of these are university graduates with difficult degrees, computer science, physics, mathematics, computer engineering, electrical engineering.. The last two being professional degrees. I think this study is looking at the wrong sample.

under 50k is not enough to live a decent life these days, it just isn't.

No shit, Thats my point.
You cant buy a car/truck or 2, a House,recreational vehicles, vacation,fuck all on 30k

(If you REALLY want to, pick ONE)

Oh and I am a highschool drop out and Im looking forward to a 300k a year trade, Thank you very much.

They still have decisions. I live out here in LA and there are nice areas that have a higher cost of living for rent and even the restaurants and average price for goods. But There is also less expensive neighborhoods that are but a a short drive away. If they choose to live in the nicer neighborhoods then the cost of living will be a lot more. But they could easily move to a less expensive neighborhood and live comfortably there. Some people are honestly so narrow minded or just oblivious they don't even realize that and they just think that what they make is not enough but the truth is it's just not enough to maintain their same endulgant live style 100%.
