They are just going to have to deal with them at this point. I doubt they would want to increase production again at this point, but they should. This situation they are in right now is similar to when Mario Kart released, so as long as they don't drop the ball holiday 2010 with some bad game, the increase in unit production may be warranted. They will have great momentum going into 2011 and hardware will sell nearly just as well.

Nintendo can't win for losing.
But then again, if you have a system shortage, this is the time of year for it.

Nope. Well, unless you consider buying it overseas and having it shipped to NA 'available.'

Black Wii won't be available in the US until they sort out this latest shortage problem. Black has already come to Japan and Europe, but why introduce a "sales booster" when you are currently out of stock.
How would the wii beat last year's numbers now?

pretty easily, all Wii has to do is maintain sales, last year Wii sales dropped off hard, this year it looks like the only issue is supply
Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

The wii only dropped 2 million untis. How is that a big slowdown? Unless your talking about Q2&3? That's when 2008's numbers
jumped through the roof til the Q4 when it slowly droppped until the Christmas season
