Forums - Sony Discussion - Kratos is such a lame character

I get what they're doing with him, it's just they tried so hard that they just made him boring.  I guess that's what happens when you make a game that dictates you must be doing something amazingly brutal every 15 minutes but when all he does is that it just loses any of its value.

When was the last time you actually played a God of War game?

I agree.. I depise Kratos, hes a very 1 dimensional character. Hell I depise the series and anything that follows its philosopher on over violence( GTA, MadWord) Violent for the sake of beinG violent is dumd.

It's not for you.

More seriously, though, Kratos is a fulfillment of male power fantasies in the most literal, brutal way that the designers could come up with. If you expect anything else, you will be a sad panda.

Still, his visual design is actually pretty distinctive - compare him to Dante in EA's Dante's Inferno, and the difference in how distinctive their faces are will really jump out. Kratos is just stylized enough that nobody in the world actually looks like him, which is a neat little trick.

So if we chained feather dusters to him does that make him the fulfillment of your domestic cleaning fantasies?

Do you know what its like to live on the far side of Uranus?

no surprise !!

twesterm you are the man

He's not supposed to be uber unique or appealing imo. Hes just a spartan general who went too far for power and has to deal with the consequences now. Not much else too it. The story and the puzzles/action are what are the most appealing. Kratos is just a tool to bring that expierence to life.

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

The king in the movie 300 is a better character... Kratos isn't a good character in comparaison...

For him to look generic don't there have to be a lot of characters that look like him and makes it hard to pick him out of a crowd? I find it hard to believe that you couldn't pick Kratos out of a lineup of Action Game heroes.

He actually makes himself generic because every picture/gif you see of him he's either in the same pose or doing some brutal thing.  He does so many brutal things that he makes the act seem generic and not-amazing.

Again, don't get me wrong, the game looks amazing and it's actually a good game I'm sure because they do those kind of games right, it's just Kratos is painfully uniteresting.

As I said in the OP, the first God of War.  I'm just basing this off the countless random gifs, sigs, and avatars I see of him.  I see those and he's always doing about the same thing and he just makes it boring.

Maybe it's just the nerd in you that hates all tough guys? :P

nah, Gordon Freeman is the lamest lame character ever.

he is just ..... meh.
