I would agree with all of this also, however i'd like to see where you heard your 30% number?
last year at this time, it was at about 20%. The price of HDTVs have dropped alot in the last 12 months, and it's going down more this year.
I would expect another 10-20million HDTVs (at least) sold this year. That would bring the HDTV penetration to at least 40-50% (looking at the low end)
HDTV sales are expected to take off this year.

OriGin - are you anti technology? Do you go out and buy an old 1985 atari computer because you dont need a C2D? I'll sell you one for 2000$. I mean. Their just as good as a new one. The technology isnt that big of a diffrence. No need to ever upgrade.

Dude, i'm not anti technology at all, i think laterally. No need to be silly sarcastic. Of course for YOU technology is a big thing, you can afford the latest and greatest and you believe everyone thinks in a similar way to you.
If everyone upgraded to the best and bought the best all the time just because it was available why do AMD still sell ANY cpu's? Wouldn't everyone just buy C2D's then?
I've watched a lot of HDTV vs SDTV, and yes it is better, much better, I have a HD Projector and I work with 1080P panels every day. But when i show my girlfriend the difference between HD and SD she can hardly tell the difference. When I point it out to her she can then see, however doesn't really care.
Also, it makes YOU wanna PUKE, not everyone. HDTV is fantastic but that doesn't mean everyone is going to buy it.
I'm not bagging the technology, I'm a tech buff too, but i've come to realise to much in the recent years about the mindsets of consumers on the market, there are so many people that couldn't care less and can't afford the biggest, best and greatest.

That's right, but you can get SDTV's for a LOT cheaper than HDTV's. the SDTV's can still be input with a HD digital signal if they need be. Every ma & pa kettle aren't going to go out and choose HDTV if an SDTV looks 'almost' as good to them and is 1/4 the price.
