Forums - Sales - George Harrisson reveals current Wii production rates on Bloomberg

ok guys, it's obvious no one's going to convince anyone else. The amount Nintendo are releasing are a full 400/500k short of production, and this means they must be stockpiling. When NPD releases December sales for Nintendo that are ABOVE the 1.8 million per month, then it will be shown that they are stockpiling, and we can resurrect this thread for some good ole fashioned crow eatin'

@Sqrl: http://begthequestion.info/

Yes i am aware of the term "begging the question" in reference to logical fallacy. But that is in terms of logic and especially logical proofs etc..

I am also aware that many people do not like the popular usage in which it is used to say "it invites the question". But it does not change the fact that it conveys a point and people are capable of understanding that point the way it is written. Which is the only thing important in communication.

There has been a long standing war between popular usage and people who like to write dictionary definitions and popular usage has been winning for a very long time.  In this case begging the question has been used for a very long time this way and it is not likely to change any time soon.

It is really interesting! I am more and more convinced: I am the invisible person!

I saw your post Just_Ben, it's just that everything you mention there has been discussed anyway, save perhaps for this one:

"Were they go is very variable, indicating that there is no stockpile

We’re really trying to follow each market’s performance. We review the performance every couple of weeks and try to have the inventory be as productive as possible, in other words, not to have it sitting in warehouse, but on store shelves. Each territory is doing the best they can to increase the sales for Wii and then fighting for the share of the available production.
"

I think what he means by "not sitting in warehouses" is about retailer's warehouses. It makes sense because he's talking about how to distribute Wiis throughout the territories, so that it sells out everywhere and unmet demand is as small as possible (taking into account production limits, of course - and if the stockpiling theory is right, production minus stockpiled amount).

Regarding the "it takes time to ramp up production" argument, as I said above in my reply to KenBan, production has been above 1 million (and apparently increasing) for a long time.

There's more than meets the eye regarding this issue.
