Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why third-parties doesn't do ads for their Wii exclusive titles?

I can't understand it. They later complain about bad sales but they doesn't put much effort to boost the sales of their Wii exclusive games. Dead Space Extraction is a major example of a bad advertised game, no ads nowhere. Someone know the reason for this?

HD games cost more so they need to spend more advertising them.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Its been argued up to high heaven. We all know they don't do it. Only thing I can figure is they're using the Wii to make cheap games (which is also well known) and don't want to spend any money on advertising because they just want the games to make pure profit. As long as they can make a medium quality game for 500,000-2 million and turn around and sell 100,000-300,000 copies without any advertising, they're happy.

On the flip side, if they make an HD console game, which costs way more to develop, they not only want to make sure the game is successful, they HAVE to market it in order to make sure they can make their money back.

Long story short, developers are using the Wii to make money with cheap low quality games they wouldn't put on other consoles.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

I can see the Capcom and EA ads boiling down to:

"You know that genre that everyone knows is dead, has been dead for over a decade, and we wouldn't dare dream about doing on a 'real' console?  Well, we're bringing it back for the Wii, but shittier than ever!!!!"

There are some true sales shames for the Wii but some of the biggest complainers are people cranking out crap titles in goofball genres that don't make any type of sense at all.

Got me.. Something about the Wii that turns these seemingly rational and smart companies into clueless morons.

A lot of them have just made niche titles. Sure I myself enjoy some of these, but none of them were going to sell millions on any console. So they probably did not want to waste any profit on advertising.

But we do have Monster Hunter 3 coming soon and it is getting a red carpet treatment. I never really thought of it as a a huge seller myself, but with all the work Capcom has put into it it is looking great to me.

We also have some other upcoming games that might get this treatment or at least a push of some sort.

It's because developers see the woeful sales of highly advertised games like Just Dance.

i seen extraction bombing even with ad's

maybe they don't wanna take a risk with wii games from bombing, you know the risk that havnt been tried since red steel? lol...

you know what i say? you gotta spend money to make money

Their loss. Watch Nintendo flood the market with HUGE first party IPs and dominating it.

Well HD consoles get AAA third party games. The Wii does not.
