The XBox 360 will outsell the PS3 worldwide in 2010 just like 2006, 2007 and 2008. 2009 was a one off for the PS3- a flash in the pan. The XBox 360 will outsell the PS3 by 1 million units. A big victiory in US will make up for losses in the other two regions. Europe may even go to 360 with Natal launch.

By the end of the year the 360 will have all the sales momentum with Natal, Halo: Reach + lots of exclusive games and more price cuts.

Go the XBox 360 and I hope you crush the PS3 in console sales.

1. Please change your avatar.

2. If I were to pick which would sell more in 2010, I'd pick the 360 in the Americas, the PS3 in Japan, the PS3 in Europe, and the PS3 for total woldwide.

1. What is wrong with my avatar? I hope you are not being anti-gay. I sense subtle homophobic vibe in your request/demand. But I could be reading too much into it.

Anyway avatar change request/demand denied.

2. 360 sales win in America region for 2010 could surpass the PS3  sales win in the combined Europe and Japan regions for 2010. American market accounts for around half of the video game industry sales. PS3 in 2010 will not have the impact of a FFXIII + PS3 Slim launch in Japan- its strongest sales region.

Its time to open your eyes since you are not basing any logic to why Xbox 360 will have a huge advantage in sales "worldwide" I repeat, you said "worldwide" for the year 2010.

So here is what you gonna say to counter the argument.

1. Natal: its too new of a addon for the xbox 360, it can be a huge sucess or a total screwup. Also the pricing of Natal has to be within reach to where it is affordable around the $50-$80 range (depending on people's budget) If its too high, no one would get it. Most of the people who find Natal fascinating is actually 360 users who actually own the system. New system users would be doubtful about the idea since people mostly play with something physical and accessible in their hands. (Oh! Did you forget U.S is the fat and lazy country? Brilliant! Lets get the kids to shed some pounds and use them as the controllers!)

Sure the idea sounds nice, but don't feel embarassed running around like a monkey at home in front of your television screen? Microsoft is trying to repeat the success with what Wii had and came up with the idea "Hey! instead of making a motion controller, lets have no controller at all!" How can you play with what you can't touch? (in terms of controlling your game? isn't using a controller easier????)

Or you believe that innovation alone will hype people up to buy it without using a thought process?

Another thing is its releasing in the holidays, which is the biggest sale season ever. Microsoft is taking a gamble and risking it all in that season for sales.

2. We have Halo Reach........Fable 3... : Ummmm, would that be considered a system seller or a boost in software sales? Didn't people say Fable 2 and Halo 3 become a system seller? (Fable 2 didn't, but Halo 3 did since its the first game of the series on the xbox 360. )

So people are implying it will be a system seller for those who jump from Halo series in the original xbox to the 360 and missed out on Halo 3?  Cause most who have Halo 3 aren't going to buy another system for Reach. Sure it will boost sales, but it won't be anywhere near that of Halo 3 since that was the first game, usually sequals or continuation of the game (halo 4, 5, 6, 7, 1000) on that system is lower in system sales compared the first game (Halo 3) cause they already own the system and the games prior to the one coming out.

New games on the system are system sellers, not sequal games.

3. Price cut: Did the $199 arcade one sell much? Last I checked, the Elite was better. If they did a $50 price cut, it will only increase sales for a bit but if you hoping for it to be as successful as what Sony did, think again. They changed the PS3 model, increased the memory, and had the high price point for awhile. Unless Microsoft do a dramatic $100 pricecut, it won't matter much.

Unless Microsoft starts bundling Natal with Xbox 360 and a game or two, with no pricecut. Then there won't be a boost in sales.

Now look at the PS3........

1. New Introduction of games and other games from the PS2 to the PS3: We have..

a. Heavy Rain that already came out.

b. Final Fantasy XIII coming out in a few weeks (yes i know it comes out on 360 also, but do you think it will sell more systems on 360 vs ps3? no)

c. God of War 3 coming out a week after

d. GT5 alone will boost sales in Europe for the holidays this Xmas.

Keep in mind these games are the first of its kind to come out on the PS3. They were already popular on PS2 (except Heavy Rain

2. The patient ones saving up: Finally the day has come that there actually good games coming out on the PS3! You will have people who've been waiting for the PS3 to have good games before buying the system. Especially those who were waiting on FFXIII. Unknowingly not knowing GOW 3 is coming out a week after (for those into GOW that is). So its a double win situation.

I could be wrong, I just see this is the year PS3 will beat Xbox. Last year was just the rise of the PS3.

1 a. Heavy Rain will not sell over 1 million copies ltd. White Knight Chronicles and M.A.G. probably have more chance of selling 1 million copies ltd than Heavy Rain.
b. Final Fantasy XIII will not push console sales as much as Grand Theft Auto 4 for either system. It is a JRPG. WRPGs sell more than JRPGs.
c. God of War 3 will have little impact on system sales. One or two weeks, slight boost in PS3 sales it is not in the same league as Halo, MGS, COD or any high profile game series.
d. Gran Turismo 5 it is a 50% chance of being released in 2010 and 50% chance of not being released in 2010. This game has been delayed so many times, it was supposed to be released 2008, 2009, 2010? It keeps getting pushed back. Gran Turismo 5 is turning into the XBox 360 Alan Wake- a high profiled game which keeps getting hold back. Developers still hard at work finishing the game but you have to wait. PS3 needs Gran turismo 5. IMO Gran Turismo 5 will be the PS3s saviour.

2. Price cuts is the key for the XBox 360. Microsoft can afford to drop the 360 SKU prices down further. $199 Elite XBox 360 would be very nice. Arcade 360 could be sold for $149. 360 reaching 5 years in Novemeber 2010. Time to go for broke and push the console sales. Natal will sell for between $50 and $80- very affordable for the average gamer. Only one Natal is needed for multiple gamers on the XBox 360. You need a Wii mote and Sony Arc for every single gamer who uses those systems.

I hope you are wrong and the 360 outsells the PS3 worldwide in 2010. 360 just has to match the PS3 sales total and sell one extra unit. I would still claim that as a victory.

^^
Cutting Arcade down to $149 would have little to no effect at all, as people could have bought it for even less, if they just wanted it, picking one of the crazy offers we saw from even before Black Friday up to after Xmas, and not only in USA, but all around the world.
Maybe they should cut it to $99, or, to play it safe, $75...

Anyway, Greenberg was clearly talking about USA only, hoping as many as possible misunderstood worldwide, and about USA, everybody except the most rabid XB hateboys can agree that 2nd place is firmly in MS' hands, no big news.

William, at least when it comes to the PS1, I don´t think luck alone explains the huge success Sony had with it....back then they really seemed to know how to take advantage of Nintendo´s and Sega´s mistakes....I don´t think luck alone would get your system to be the first home console to reach (and pass) the 100 million mark.

That´s the Sony that was nowhere to be seen this gen...while Nintendo´s approach with the Wii really reminds me of their steps with the NES, which is great.

Why can't the 360 outsell the PS3 now? It's already cheaper than the PS3.

Come on, MS has a $199 console where Sony is not even close to getting near, they are losing WW to a console having stock issues, more expensive and in third place.

How do you know they are losing? The numbers are just estimates and if the stock problem is worse than originally thought...

What $199 console do you speak of? The Wii is made by Nintendo, according to Sony the $199 Xbox 360 is a lie!

Well, I am in VGchartz which gives me numbers each week, I know there could be changes, but i can only go by i am given.

Too bad I am not Sony nor do they pay me, so yes there is a $199 360.

And the average sale price is comparable, so whats your point? The median price is $299 vs $299.

haha

It's a huge advantage. If the PS3 had a $199, this thread wouldnt exist.

Yeah, and how much further into the hole would that put the PS3 just to salvage marketshare? Microsoft could cut it's price by $100 too, so I fail to see your point.

lol when all elese fails cry cry "teh profitz"

it doesn't matter how much it would cost Sony, the fact is if all that the ps3 was sold for the lowest cost of the 360, there wouldn't even be a console war,, so congrats M$ for "winning" due to circumstance.that's the point my friend.

the fact that a 299 ps3 can out sell a 199  360 since it's induction really makes the mind run wild of what a 199 or eveen worse a 179.99 ps3 would imo, no matter how much 360 fans pray that will never happen, and for the sake of M$ and their current position it better not happen.

ps. ps3 iz so doomed remember

WHAT? The profit is by far the most important thing to watch as a company. That is the reason you got to work every day. MS could bundle the Xbox 360 with every happy meal. They would gain market share but lose billions of dollars. The PS3 still has the lowest market share of all consoles and lost by far the most money with the PS3. This quite a big step coming from the no. 1 place and billions of Dollar of profit with the PS2.

I really don't know why Sony fans simply ignore this.

I predicted the Xbox360 will outsell the PS3 worldwide in 2010 a few months back. Maybe I am wrong, but it is just a prediction anyway.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

microsoft also believed the first to get 10 million would win the console war.

Arcade 360 should be priced at half price or less of the PS3 120GB with $149 or $99 price tag. XBox 360 Elite 120GB should be priced at half the price of the PS3 250GB with $199 price tag. The lower prices are needed to kick start the 360s push in the late stages of its lifespan. 5 years is old for a console system. The specs of consoles remain the same until they are phased out and replaced with a new system.

Mass effect 2 will sell between 3 and 4 million sales ltd. FFXIII to sell between 6 and 8 million on PS3 alone? I will take that bet. 1 month avatar control for the winner. You clearly said FFXIII (PS3 sales) will sell double the ltd sales of Mass effect 2.
