Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Is Iwata responsible for the drastic change of philosophy at Nintendo?

I don't know, it's your opinion here, but I feel like Mr. Satoru Iwata is for something with the new Nintendo policy. Iwata is the president CEO of Nintendo since 2002.

Four years after his nomination, Nintendo's logo changed for a more dulled color. Nintendo's website changed drastically for something more formal. First party support declined for their systems. Few big games. No more early announcement for upcoming games. Silence among upcoming games, less hype period. Casual systems.

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Business wise, he is much better.

Image wise, Nintendo is much less kiddy these days.

So all is good.

Absolutely! And he's done a wonderful job so far.

This ain't your granddaddy's Nintendo anymore.

The image of gamers being families with kids and grandparents all dressed in white and exercising together is the best thing to happen to video games as a socially acceptable art/entertainment medium.

Iwata's the best thing that happened to Nintendo since Miyamoto.

This.

Iwata is awesome. I didn't catch the Yamauchi era, but he seemed to be a tough leader. Iwata has changed the way Nintendo does games now, but this is also due to Miyamoto's ideas.

Even though he was PURE EVIL, Yamauchi built the modern video game industry with an iron fist, using nothing but brute force, greed, and the power of the dark crystal. Nintendo could have destroyed the universe if Iwata hadn't taken over and changed the course of history.

The Trinity used to be Yamauchi as G-d of Business, Yokoi as G-d of Hardware, and Miyamoto as G-d of Software. Nintendo needed all 3 to become the monster it is today.
