Metal Gear may have been one of the first stealth games (and a nearly impossible one at that) but since MGS, the franchise has wavered quite a bit while games like Thief and Splinter Cell offered superior gameplay (though without the sometimes endearing Kojima quirks). |
Oh I understand that. Also, in case I didn't make it clear, I do think Splinter Cell has the superior gameplay since you HAVE to make use of your equipment where as in Metal Gear (especially MGS4) the gadgets you get are gimmicky for the most part. But it's the presentation, story, and Kojima's hilarious and unique wackyness that I've come to truly appreciate. Not a single one of Kojima's games to this day, IMO, is truly lacking, compared to Doom III.
I mean, hell, I haven't really played many online games that encourage as much teamwork as MGO (not to mention it's also quite unique and works well at the same time). It's just a shame that with MGO2 Konami's support is complete shit. Wasn't sufficiently tested.
