Do you think pirates really do buy some of the games they get for free?

Yes, there are a lot of honest pirates 28 33.73%

Yes, the lack of game demos is the problem 6 7.23%

Yes, but they're extreme... 16 19.28%

No, it's just an excuse to justify theft 7 8.43%

No, I've never seen one do that in real life 3 3.61%

No, they're just full of shit 23 27.71%

Total:83

So what do you think, are pirates the victims here who are forced to download complete copies of games in order to decide which ones deserve their money?

Double post... Ignore...

lol, no.

I'm sure there are some that do but I firmly believe 99% are full of shit.

wow, i never thought you'd give 1% up! you just got a good point for open mindedness in my book.

OP:

You poll should have 2 other option. "Yes, if the price point is low enough" and "yes, if there is multiplayer", cause i'm sure that plenty of pirates do buy the best games once they are on sale, and plenty of pirates aren't advanced enough to know how to play multiplayer on cracked copies of games (that have an actual protection against this).

you'll see plenty of pirates downloading SC2 a few days before release then buying it for BNet access i'm sure (an easy example I conceed).

OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO

I know for a fact that a lot of people do.

Personally, I can't speak for gaming, because I don't pirate games, but I do pirate a lot of TV Shows and movies ... And when I see something I like, I always buy it on DVD. I own Seinfeld, How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, Psych, House M.D., Heroes (first two seasons only), Lost, Arrested Development, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and probably a few more I'm forgetting on DVD - and I started off pirating every single one of them.

As for movies, I'm not even going to go there, because I've bought well over 50 that I started off downloading...

I always test games before hand and not buy them blindly. I also just bought one game to support devs behind it. However there is too many sucky games that games I buy are rare.

lol @ anyone who voted for anything except the top answer. I can honestly not think of a single person I know who pirates all their games. I do however know dozens of people who pirate some and buy some. You are just voting the way you did to express your dislike for the concept of video game piracy, as if honestly answering the question is a betrayal of your moral stance

While I am with you on the movies front, comparing movies to games isn't really fair, unless you are getting a flawless copy with all the extra's that a DVD/Blu-ray has :)

Unicorns ARE real - They are just fat, grey and called Rhinos

I rarely use the extras so I didn't even think of that.
