Impossible for a console.

You don't understand.
Enemies =/= AI. They are talking about intelligent characters and not just stupid NPC trying to attack you with the same moves.

okok for everyones veiwing pleasure please watch.

Stupid characters with pre-programed actions (attack you/walk). If you watch the entire video you will see some enemies in front of the main character, just walking without attack the main character, even if they have the chance to attack.

We are talking about AI (something smart). Using a good AI the character will think logically, attack you in the right time, form a small tactic etc. Something more realistic.

the point of that video was to show off the numbers and the environment.

they might be able pull off killzone 2 AI maybe. i still have my doubts!

Looks like some people don't know what the thread is all about.

High numbers =/= Good AI. We are talking about 200 SMART enemies at once (they will think logically), not just stupid NPCs with 2 objectives (attack and walk).

1000 stupid enemies are useless against 50 smart enemies.

200 smart enemies will use the engine and hardware much more than 800 stupid characters. However, 200 enemies at once with good AI is impossible in my opinion (for a console). I will believe it when I see it.

Thats exactly what happens in Heavenly Sword. Only few of those have even some sort of stupid attack/defense/retreat manouvers and others are just running around neo even through walls it seems.

Well, supreme commander can handle quite nice amount of units. Yeah, its not 'that' complex to do it in 2.5D, but its pretty impressive.

(Theres still different kind of units and micromanagering them.)

^^^ Just report them...hopefully, they will post some silly comments in enuf threads to get a ban.

Didn't some ps2 game have 200+ on screen at once. Though i distinctly remember them being stupid from some video i watched on here a long time ago.

During the Dead Rising Wii debate, someone put up videos of a Hitman game with a couple hundred people in a club or alleyway during a shootout. They had roughly the AI of bushes that sway in the wind. If they were within 4 feet of your character as he unloaded his machine gun in to the crowd, they'd duck a bit.

It would have been better for the game if there were a lot less people that could react in some way remotely reasonable.

Thats what i was talking about. More AI does not make a batter game. I think we are in agreement

That's not really impressive, I don't know why you guys are drooling all over this.
