Nope.

Recordable Blu Ray discs aren't yet affordable to the masses.

Blu Ray will knock off DVD's from the market in 5 or 6 years. When the next gen consoles are half way in their life cycles.

Also, I don't know about your DVD player, if it sucks or not, but that 480i shot looks worse than my VHS movies.

No. BR movies are still too expensive.

Blu-Ray gives a bit better image, but not enough to justify buying a new movie player and more expensive movies.

PS: Gotta love applying a blur filter and calling it "Standard DVD 480i".

(btw, DVD is 480p not 480i)

DVD looks worse than VHS? umm i dont know what your smoking buddy but you must prolly be using the worst DVD/TV combo yet prolly running off RF cables..

As for Blu ray.. unless they get recordable media prices down, aggressively market it to computer makers.. I dont see blu ray getting all the attention it deserves.

The format has a possible long life though, considering Quad layer discs should be able to support digital cinema(2K res) in the future.

I havent got a blu ray player yet- the slim is gonna be my first purchase - I'm not gonna jump onto the movie bandwagon though- Blu ray movies are significantly overpriced here in the middle east. With NAND flash prices jumping up and down though- Blu ray can be a decent competitor- as long as those disc prices come down(they charge around $18 here for a 1 SINGLE LAYER BD-R disc)

Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd.

a. a AAA 3D sonic title
