Is there room for another WWII FPS?

Yes 27 43.55%

No 22 35.48%

Maybe 5 8.06%

I dont care 8 12.90%

Total:62

No please I'm sick of WWII games......I would rather prefer a ridiculous idea like fighting nazis on dinosaurs

Depends what sort of campaign it follows. Most focus on the western front, the german invasion of the USSR or the pacific. I dont have a huge amount of knowledge of WW2 shooters outside of CoD WaW but are there any games that do:
Battle of Britain?
Soviet invasion of Machuria?
Dunkirk Evacuation?
D-Day? (bet there is but like I say, I dont know that many WW2 games)
African Campaign?
Nazi invasion of the Balkans?
Resistance movements eg Free France?
Sino-Japanese War?

The new Wolfenstein wasn't that bad, only because it took the WWII setting and added something supernatural to the theme and to the gameplay. This probably means that people would still enjoy the WWII setting if they keep it fresh and mix things up a bit. Like Hitler is the Anti Christ and your the fallen angel who must redeem himself in the eye's of God by saving manking.... using a holy .45 revolver.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

Things like The Saboteur and Turning Point: Fall of Liberty are good examples (I know the games pretty bad but Im talking about the concept not the gameplay) of new ideas relating to WW2, if they keep coming up with stuff like that I dont think the setting needs to die out

there is always room for ww2 shooters. I would like to see a good vietnam fps though. I've been wishing for one.

Battle of Britain? I believe Il-2 sturminov (or something like that) and the Blazing Angels games have covered the aerial warfare aspec
Soviet invasion of Machuria? This isn't worth a game, this was just a minor event at the end of the war
Dunkirk Evacuation? No, but is there much fun in just running away into small boats?
D-Day? (bet there is but like I say, I dont know that many WW2 games) Yup, loads of times!
African Campaign? Certainly CoD 2 and probably more
Nazi invasion of the Balkans? No
Resistance movements eg Free France? Yeah, like the Sabateour
Sino-Japanese War? No

So yeah, there are some unexplored areas, but they would not be that different to what we have already explored. But anyway, to me, the best WW II game is CoH

I dont really care,But there's always room for everything. The only thing that matter is quality

When I was listing them I didnt mean each having their own title but as chapters in a game like the way CoD WaW jumps through different stages of the war. So fighting as a British soldier you could start of getting Blitzkreig-ed, to getting to the evac-site at Dunkirk, to aerial combat in the Battle of Britain, skip a bit and go to D-Day, liberating Paris and then the Battle of the Bulge.

Also missed to some off my list

Hiroshima Bombing

Pearl Harbour

Siege of Leningrad

As much as I love first person shooters, especially WW2, I just feel that we have played every battle there is to play. Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, Brothers in Arms, Battlefield 1942 and the other 100 that I could not be bothered to list. Many of us have at least played 2 or 3 different games which feature the same towns, same places, pretty forests and the like. With Modern Warfare 2, Battlefield Bad Comany 2, Ghost Recon 2 as well Crysis 2 shifting battle onto the "Digital Battlefield", I personally feel that I would not go back and buy another WWII FPS set in Europe though a would not mind a change of scenry, lets say Korea. CoD WaW tried a new angle, yet it felt too recycled.

Does anyone agree with me here?

How did World at War try a new angle? I've only played half of it, but I saw nothing new whatsoever. It was extremely generic.

That said I love WW2. The latest Wolfenstein was awesome and I can't wait to play more shooters set in that era.
