Heroes of Newerth - yay for pure cloning 29 17.58%

Screw newfangled contrapt... 31 18.79%

Im not about to pay $30 for a game where 85% of the heroes are copies, and 98% of items, of a free game.

Dota is better than either of those two. HoN is basically an exact ripoff of Dota, with different graphics.

LoL is free vlad, its also a lot better than dota IMO

well LoL is free, you can spend money to get more heroes and slightly stronger stats and abilities but you can get all that stuff by playing the game and getting experience points anyways.  The retail LoL just includes a bunch of the heroes and stuff, not sure exactly what is all included but you can get everything for free.

not sure if i can even believe you, doesn't even sound like you gave dota a fair chance.  I've played a hell of a lot of both.

HoN was built to be an exact "ripoff" of Dota on purpose. It's a standalone Dota game engine basically, so you no longer need WC3 to run it, and it has tons of improvements. Original Dota was just a custom map, it was never it's own game until HoN.

speaking of HoN, how can i get the game? I understand it is invite only but how do i get this?

if HoN is an exact ripoff that's kinda what i'm looking for. LoL is like dota kinda but it's too simplified and takes away a lot of the elements skilled dota players enjoyed. They dont' have items with effects like black king bar, dagon, ghost spectre among many others. There is no denying of creeps, level is capped at 18 which you can get to pretty early, the masteries and runes are cool but that's more of a thing to suck you in and makes the game uneven. DOTA heroes are more powerful and if you let a guy get out of control he will dominate your team, this can happen in LoL but not very easily. When you play DOTA and you're a skilled player you know you have more control over the game, while in LoL you have a couple bad players you are doomed.

It's lame when in LoL the whole team is pushing against you but they can never get into your base because the towers are powerful but your team also has no chance at stopping them. This can make the games way longer than they really need to be. The makers of LoL have stated that LoL games are shorter than DOTA games but that is NOT the case, especially if you play easy mode on DOTA, then the games are much shorter.
