Remedy is awesome.

Alan Wake 94% Meta, 3 million copies, I stand by my original prediction.

You seem optimistic... but then again, I thought you were optimistic over Assassin's Creed II, and I think you were dead right

Ahh, thanks for reminding me of AC2. I just checked, yes I was very close.

Since then we also have Uncharted 2 to use as a comparison tool to predict Alan Wake sales. Some people dont realize it, but the market appeal, reviews and sales between UC2 and AW will be very similar.

Well Uncharted 2 came into it with best of E3 awards, very positive feedback from the beta, and from the first game. AW is not an established franchise, and Remedy's last effort was so long ago, its legacy won't have that much effect.

M$ usually market very well, so if they do that, it should sell well. I think a better comparison would be with the original Uncharted, which sold so well due to word of mouth. {and yes, bundles}

So what they are saying is that many of these images were are seeing are not reprentitive of gameplay, but those aren't what they call screenshots.... They are, however, produced by the engine, so the in-engine cut scenes will look better than the gameplay, but I think that most games have that

No, Remedy has not said that. Gameplay and cinematics will look the same and both will have 4xAA. The screenshots just have a bit more AA (i think its 16x), thats all.

Video: Samsung 37" LCD, Topfield 7700HSCI (HD-Sat), Denon DVD-2500BT (BluRay), Denon DVD-1940 (DVD)
Audio: Teufel System 5 THX @ Denon AVR 1910
Consoles: Homebrew Xbox 360 (500GB), Xbox 360 Slim (4GB) + Kinect, Homebrew Nintendo Wii, Homebrew Playstation 3 Slim (250GB)

The screenshots are great but now that we have the actual gameplay it's almost not worth discussing screenshots, it's obvious the game just looks incredible.

Two things:

"All cinematics are guaranteed to run 30 FPS[...]I know there's still a few heavy locations in the game where we resort to dipping below 30 FPS, but we're working very very hard to get all those solved."

Say what?

Secondly - "There's several versions of the character (hmm, did I just spoil something?)"

HYPED! :D

So, they confirm they released PC screenshots (while for now this version has been cancelled). They also confirm screen tearing (Uncharted 2 does not) and 4 to 8 times fewer polygons for main characters than Uncharted 2. 4x anti-aliasing probably hints at a sub-HD rendering resolution on the XBox 360.

Also considering Uncharted 2 so far seems to sport higher quality textures, better HDR effects and more complex world with more going on on screen, I think it's safe to say this title will not by far top Uncharted 2 in the graphics department.

I love Remedy's past efforts though, so I may get Alan Wake for the PC at some point if this title meets expectations.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

Hmm maybe I misunderstood but nowhere in there does it say it is pc shots.I thought it was a similar process to the way lets say sony did screenshot of shadow of the colossus.Render that certain frame at a higher resolution or render the frame piece by piece then put it together(I really have no idea how that works).I wanted to get the pc version ,seeing how microsoft wants to stonewall us,and I dont know about you but I cant wai 1-3 years more for it come out.And whats the point in comparing to uncharted, even though its more linear than its orginal counter part,it still seems to be WAY more open than uncharted, that in itself I imagine brings more limitations graphically.

@ cloofoofoo

"We've published a lot of screenshots over the years (from various platforms)."

We know the game was being developed for the PC. What other platform would this be then? Wii, PS3, DS, etc?

I think we can safely say there were PC screenshots, considering Microsoft is the publisher.

The demo they did was very linear with cinematics.
