Haven't touched it yet. Been playing through Marine and Predator, and all I know is the Marine is no longer survival horror, and the predator is no longer about sneaking around killing things in awesome ways.

i disagree i think the marine is very survival horrer especially the first 2 levels and i love its campaign. and vlad i disagree completly about pred campaign also an amazing campaign. alien is only kinda good. multiplayer is very fun.

Corridor shooters freak me out, hence why I haven't got past the first level of DOOM 3.

Maybe we aren't playing the same game. There was nothing to make me feel like I was struggling to survive as a Marine, even in the first levels. Maybe it was because I could backtrack in a circle in the club and take down 5 aliens with just my pistol without getting hit once, or maybe it was the fact that when an alien invasion stats off, the one with the sentry guns, the aliens crawled slower across the ceiling slower than Master CHief running, taking them all out a with only my gun again. Also I'm playing this on hardest.

Meanwhile as a Predator, I have 2 wristblades, a block, a slight and a strong attack. I actually have to fight hand to hand with the aliens, due to lack of weaponry (I'm not as far in as a Predator), and the humans can see me from a pretty decent distance. Worst part? The quick time events where you can kill an enemy early on with a cut-scene thing, or keep whittling their health down.

Haven't played Alien yet, but if even you say it's just ok, then it must be pretty bad.

do you mean your playing on nightmare, because there is no hardest setting. also i must ask you if you a fan of alien,aliens,predator. if you are a huge fan then okay its your opinion that the game sucks. not everyones gunna like it. but if you arnt a fan of those movies or havent seen them then no duh your probably not gunna like it. i think its a breath of fresh air. im so sick of first person realilistic military shooters. ive owned so many those shooters im just so happy to play a differant fps.

Whatever the ones is right under the one that removes autosave checkpoints (respawns).Man I am a fan of Aliens up until the 3rd movie and Predator up until the 2nd movie. Also a fan of AVP1 and AVP2 for the PC back in early 00s. I also think this game sucks horrible compared to a game that came out 9 years ago. I don't want it to be realistic, god knows the 2001 AVP2 wasn't realistic at all. But it didn't have shitty mechanics ruining it utterly to either pamper people who can't take it (AVP2 was definitely ahrder on harer settings, Aliens REALLY tore you a new one on the hardest settings as a marine) and shoehorn as much possible into an extremely limiting control scheme. The end result is something which is inferior to the '94 Jaguar game in many ways, and a pile of shit compared to the games that came out in early '00s. Also we're talking about Alien and Predator, I'm fairly sure any semblance of realism went out the door, the least they could have done is not allow you to punch something impervious to punching. Seriously, please imagine Ripley or Hicks punching an Alien in the movies. Yeah... I'll let you laugh your ass at your own leisure.

I would have just settled for a re-skinned and a new graphics engine port of AVP2, maybe with new levels too, but the same 9 year old mechanics. Sadly they definitely would not have been able to fit those mechanics on a controller, so they decided to shoehorn and half-ass instead and ruin already existing, perfectly good mechanics.

i dont know how u can be a fan of avp 1999 and not this. the multiplayer is identical except for graphics and trophy kills.

Because I thought AVP2 was better than the '99 AVP and this AVP is a pile of crap compared to AVP2. I also editted in a last paragrph to the other post saying I would have just loved AVP2 with new graphics and improved physics.

well maybe sega will go with monolith for the sequel. rebellion clearly isnt a very good developer. even though i give this game a 8.75/10 its mainly because i love the movies. this game is going to finish with about a 71ish metacritic. its a franchise rebellion is extremly familair with and they can only get the game to a 71 metacritic. sure they could probably get the next one to about 74 metacritic score. but i dont think segas gunna want to stick with a bad developer even though rebellions more experianced with avp then anyone out there.

Yeah the game has clearly met my expectations...

Vlad seems to be the only person no liking it and his points are valid. I think if you are a PC gamer that like part 2 the most, and have set expectations... this one will feel underwhelming.

If you are a console gamer, or if you like the movies and want to play as aliens or Predator (as well as a decent marine campaign) there is lots of fun to be had.

If you are coming with no expectations, this is a solid corridor shooter...along the lines of FEAR 2 and 2009 Wolfenstien. Not the best FPS around...but if you are not in to realistic shooters and have played Left 4 Dead 2 or Halo ODSt to death...prolly the best console FPS for the next 3-4 months.
