Sony fans just need to start spending money. Buy some games.

The previously expected big sellers like Lair and Heavenly Sword were very hyped, and after the hype failed to follow up with big sales the reasoning was that these were new IP's and those could go either way. Ok fair enough, the proven franchises will be a different story.

This was referring to R&C of course, along with future titles like MGS4 and FF yadda yadda.

Well, since R&C didnt blow up as expected, whats the deal then. Wii60 owners seem to be answering with their wallets, but whats up with the Sony masses? Everyone just renting or something? 

 well.. still I think that 1 weeks of sales isnt enough to tell how things are selkling (for all 3 games), I think ioi is extremely close. 

I know two people who have been struck by lightning twice.  Both are alive.  One is a close family relative, the other merely a family friend.

I don't personally know anyone who has won the lottery though.

Well you are spending a lot on the system.  It's 399 now.  But a lot of people bought it at the 600 pricetage.  Even now... the person buying with equal money the Wii can afford 3 more games then the 40 gig PS3 owner and 6 more games then the 80 gig owner.  Well even more then that when you count the fact that the Wii has a lot of discount games, and are just cheaper on the whole.  Not to mention that study a while back that indicated that despite it being the cheapest, the Wii's owners were the most affluent

Also the PS3 has some pretty strong PSN store games.(Or so i've been led to belive)  Sure the Wii has the virtual console, but old roms (Sin and Punnishment aside) are a bit different from games made for the PS3 download store.  Also, there is the fact that it's a blu-ray player as well.  Some people may have bought it mostly for that capacity.  Throw in on top of that Backwords compatability which gives the PS3 the best back catalogue of games (40 gig aside) and you'll see a lot of people buying PS2 games they never got to... or just never owned never having a PS2. (Hence one of the reasons for the 40 gig.)

PS3 owners just have a lot of options.  Possibly to the detriment of software sales.  Kinda like the PSP really.

As for the 360 owner... plenty of them have had time to build their cash reserves back up after first taking the plunge. 

 I never put much stake in the claim that people bought PS3s as cheap Blueray players. But given the poor sales of big title franchises, I'm begining to think that maybe a good chunk of the usebase is people who wanted a next gen movie player, and who look at gaming as either completely irrelevant, or just a casual diversion.

Don't worry, Sony is encouraging stores to bundle the game with the PS3. I think one store is doing it at no extra cost as part of the Black Friday sales. My store, Costco is doing it as the new $519 PS3 bundle (PS3, SM3 movie, R&C game, 2 controllers, and Blu-ray remote). Sony will make sure all of the copies they made of this game get sold.

 Hmm, I think you got something there Sieanr. I wonder what percentage of the userbase this actually comprises. If it really is a good chunk it then explains alot of these poor game sales figures.

As long as R&C sells 250k+ copies then everything should be fine. I doubt Insomniac dropped as much money into this game as Resistance. So all is fine guys, move along!

Ratchet isn't such a monster game like SMG (lol). Please come back after FFXIII or MGS4 failure. Regards Mario - don't worry it will have monster legs for sure lol.
