Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Lets keep Halo at Halo!!!!

Just wanted to point something out here. I've noticed many people, not only here, but on many other websites critizise Halo for being..well Halo. High jumping, no sprinting, too colorful, fake weapons, ectetera ectetera. Many compare it to Call of Duty and Killzone 2 a lot and im not liking it. Not to sound like a Halo fanboy, and trust me I LOVE HALO, but it doesnt need to be like any other experience thats not Halo. People say that Halo should play like this game and that game, or that its not a graphical powerhouse like Sony's shooter, or its not as real as Call of Duty, or I hate that they dont change this aspect of it, and so on.

Halo is a sci fi First Person Shooter. People can say they dont like it, but shouldnt deny that its a good game and a good series and the first Halo game in the series revolutionized the FPS genre on a console as we know it. Its not supposed to be all graphics, not to say Killzone was nothing but graphics. I have Killzone and love it. Its just that I believe gameplay is more important than graphics, unless its a Wii game were talking about. Halo doesnt need great graphics, just good enough graphics. I barely hear anybody complain about the online and campaign anyway. Halo started as a Sci fi game and thats what its always been. Now games like Modern Warfare and Bad Company are making people say, We dont wanna use Plasma grenades and Needler guns cause its not real. Come on, its Halo.

Im just speaking my mind on this so please excuse the disappointment. Im just saying that Halo will be Halo so just enjoy what it is. I know Reach will add some things like sprinting (like COD and almost every other shooter has), but thats okay. Just leave everything else out unless it fits in the Halo universe. What do y'all the coomunity think on this issue. Do u agree? Lets speak on it.

I just brought halo 3 three days ago as my first fps and i can safely say that its fun.

If Halo goes in a different, and tried direction, I will definitely stop buying it. Halo gets its sales for being what it is. Best to keep it that way.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

I agree completely. That's like me critizing Star Wars for not being like Star Trek, simply because they both take place in Space...to an extent.

*Time for a shameless plug*

Im pretty sure most people will say that was Goldeneye, not Halo.

But I get what you mean with everyone complaining about Halo, like with ODST. It was more like they bought it and played it just to find things wrong with it, rather than to have fun.

Still, noticed in the Vidoc that you can now run in Halo Reach rather than constantly walking which seems like a good addition, possibly inspired by Call of Duty and other shooters. that cant hurt

I hadn't paid attention to him saying "first one". Yeah, I'd also say the first one was Goldeneye 007 (which sold just over 8 million copies), not Halo. But Halo is most certainly worthy of credit, don't get me wrong.

I agree when U say that sprinting is a good addition. Goldeneye 007 was a great FPS and I would say that it put the genre on the map and made it fun just like Perfect Dark when it followed, but as the industry says it wasnt a complete FPS like Halo was when it came out. The transition of the PC type FPS to a console was realized with Halo first really. I get ehat youre saying. Good answers yall

Your completely right. Even the idea that game A is better than game B because its more realistic is stupid. There is no such thing as a realistic game. Unless a developer publishes a game where when you get shot in the leg you can't move, die by a single bullet and don't automatically regenerate or heal by med packs there will be no such thing as a realistic game and frankly that's for the best.

Halo is different from all the other "modern warfare" shooters out there and for me is the most fun shooter out today.
