Forums - Gaming Discussion - Capcom laments DVD capacity - Lost Planet 2 compromised

fanboy war aside, why the hell would this guy go out and make these stupid comments?? he has to know that telling your customers that you made cuts to the game but will sell them to you later as dlc is going to piss people off.

..i mean, i probably wasn't going to get LP2 anyways but i certainly won't now knowing what i now know.

It's kind of a strange thing for a producer to say on record.

Hey, our game isn't going to be complete for whatever reason, but do expect us to charge you the same nonetheless. However, for a premium, you can easily play what was initially intended.

I can't imagine DVD actually being the culprit here in this case. If that were truly an issue, there would be a much more obvious, logical solution.

The internet rage and drama in here, by the way, is hilarious.

I can understand if content was cut because it didn't fit the game or it was just unnecessary overall. I can also understand that not all content can fit on the disks, looking at you Xbox. But to tell PS3 people, we couldn't fit it on there due to the Xbox, so we want you to buy our DLC is really messed up.

I will not buy the extra DLC.

Well, there's no arguing that if you want to stick to one disk you can have a much bigger one disk BR title than DVD, but this smells more like a DLC money grab to me with the usual pre-release posturing.

I remember the good old days on PC, you got the full game and maybe found some remains of cut stuff in the SDK. Sometimes the developer would release it for free as a 'thank you' and bit of fun for the fans.

Now we get to pay for it as DLC. Great. Or have material better suited to an expansion pack justified as a new release at full price.

My, I'm feeling bitter today.

My view is, if they're telling the truth then either use multiple disks on 360 and one BR and release the game you want or stick with your decisions and commit to a game that fits on 1 DVD.

Bloody moaners. Like me.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

I feel like a resteraunt is telling me because they only have small plates I'm only getting half the dish but if I'm willing to pay more they'll bring the rest on another dish.  And you're right, it feels very odd for the resteraunt manager to tell me this in advance.

Agree on the rage.  What with this and the brewing 360 inferior version of FFXIII arguement I'm not sure the internet has the bandwidth to handle the potential meltdown.

I don't get why people are so skeptical that the game is bigger than a DVD. Mass Effect 2, Forza 3 and Halo: ODST are on multiple discs, why is it so hard to believe that Lost Planet 2 is bigger than a single DVD?

That said, I have no doubt that this is just an excuse for paid DLC. Expect it very shortly after release too.

Why couldn't they make it exclusive if the dvd format was limiting them?

I'm going to assume that the game is going to very short and they didn't feel it was necessary to pay MSFT more money for another disk. So they felt it would be easier to just make us pay for DLC.

And even after that some (naïve) people believe that Square-Enix cut content (could make another game with that) from Final Fantasy XIII by developers choice.

This is not the same situation. They cut the content due it not fitting in with the game. They didn't do it due to space limitations. Did you know that FFX and X-2 were going to be one game at one time? That was an entire game as well. But they felt it was unnecessary at the time. They also stated that they are giving us the complete package for our money and are not going to DLC us.

This situation would be different if SE cut content due to the Xbox not having enough space and saying that us PS3 owners could pay for it by DLC if we wanted it.
