Forums - Sony Discussion - Would it be worth it?

My birthday is coming up and If I use all my birthday money on a PS3 I could afford one. But I can only afford one game with it, and not a full price game. Like a $20 game.

I already have a Wii, what I'm not sure is if it is worth getting a ps3 with only one game? or just use my money and get a few Wii games. The PS3 game will probably be Valkyria Chronicles. I have a Wii with about 15 games and I only get money twice a year, once on my birthday and once on Chritmas.

I'm not sure what to do, use my money on a ps3 with one game or build my Wii collection further. My money is very limited so I'm not sure what to do. Any insight would help.

in your position I would probably continue buying Wii games unless there weren't enough out there that seemed worth purchasing, if that's the case then bite the bullet and get the PS3.

...

Playstation 3 120 GB Slim + Valkyria Chronicles is the ultimate Budget Combo!

I don't even need to recommend anything else.

Odd. Future. Wolf. Gang. Kill. Em. All. OFWGKTA Don't give a fuck!

Fuck Steve Harvey. FREE EARL!

Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be the GREATEST game EVER made!!!

I'd take a bullet for Square-Enix!

You could get a PS3 and GTA IV(one of many GOTY 2008) or Bioshock (one of two GOTY 2007).

I recommend getting it though, since there are plenty of demo's for you to try out that will probably last you a month, and then you should have enough money to buy another game or two of your liking.

If I were you, I'd get a PS3. Valkyria Chronicles will last you a good while. Also, you can download alot of demos on the PS3. Lastly, when you save up enough money, get yourself a game with good online multiplayer functionality so that you can always have access to the multiplayer environment. I recommend, something cheap like warhawk or a shooter like Modern Warfare 2, Killzone 2, or Uncharted 2. Tons and tons of replay value. Here's some advice, ask for an allowance =P.

If there are some Wii games that you really want to buy, then buy those..
If the PS3 exclusives interest you a lot, go for it...You can trade in Wii games that you dont like/bored of to get some more PS3 games, yes ?

It sounds to me that you are below 14 years old right? Seeing as you rely on others for your income (only twice a year) means you aren't at working age, and probably aren't old enough to do odd jobs to make money, (mowing the lawn, etc...) .

Although it would be great to go ahead and get that ps3 so you can build on the library in the future(long run), it probably isn't in your best interest in the short run and the rest of this year.

I presume you receive money on your Birthday and Christmas. Seeing as you proposed this question now in February, and not in January or December means your birthday just passed. Which means that you won't be getting money until Christmas.

Even though Valkryia Chronicles is a GREAT GAME, it won't last you 10 months of playing time, and seeing as you won't have enough money for FF13, GOW3, GT5. I suggest you save your money, to buy a lot of wii games over the next year. Nintendo has a good lineup this year.

Option B: If you can continue getting maybe 10 bucks every month or so doing chores around the house, you could go with the PS3 and buy PSN games, like FF7, FF8, Metal Gear Solid, etc. as well as Valkryia Chronicles.

Edit: I forgot you said your birthday is coming up.  Same idea though.  Its still 10 months until christmas.

Fact: Earthbound is the greatest game ever made

Unless you have totally exhausted the entirety of the games in the Wii library you want to play, buy more of those. Or get a DS and a TON of great, cheap games for that!

Definitely get a PS3. You could probably get Uncharted Drake's Fortune for $20.

Buy a PS3, and get Battlefield: Bad Company 2. You will last for at least a year.
