People might of bought the 360 for Halo 3, but there buying everything else that comes out. They'll own Crackdown, Gears of War, Viva Pinata, Lost Planet, Oblivion and so on. The average user will own between 4 to 5 games. The PS3 as an Attachment rate of 1-1.5 What does that mean? The average PS3 user doesn't even own two games... That's insane, they own a $600 machine and they only have one game?? There's two possibilities that come to mind for this low attachment rate... These are the two reasons that I think sell PS3's. 1) PS3 Users are waiting for those killer apps that every ps3 fanboy has memorized 2) PS3 Users use it primarely for a Blu Ray player oooo numbers, hey lets talk numbers. Lets talk about how many greatest hits are out for the 360 that gamers can buy for cheap that increases attach rate, lets talk about how many more games period that are available to give people more options and choices and opportunities to buy games.......what a terribly smug post that was just fueled by blind fanboyism, please save your condescension for something with more substance than that http://www.n4g.com/wii/News-30100.aspx The PS3 attach rate of 1.5 was taken from November of 2006, it is now up to around 3.4 http://thexboxdomain.net/2006/10/26/xbox-360-sales-statisticsestimates/ and here we see the attach rate for the 360 has risen to 5.1 and at this time last year the 360's attach rate was 3.8...so first of all, update your "numbers" that you love so much and dont cite launch attach rates from november in March and then think about the quantity of games and their prices with comparing two different consoles. Numbers are great and fun, but the bad thing about them is anyone can post numbers with words attached, but when those numbers are false they become irrelevent aqnd the words become laughable.
I'm sorry are you reaming me for using November numbers and then quoting October numbers?? http://thexboxdomain.net/2006/10/26/xbox-360-sales-statisticsestimates/ Specially when I stated 4-5, and you say it's 5.1?? Are you for serious?? Get off your high horse. As for PS3, my apologize, when I looked up these numbers I used the Japanese attachement rates which was the most up to date. I didn't make these numbers up, I took them straight from the site. 1,077,250 - Software 829,250 - Consoles Attachement rate of 1.24 So yeah.. great post! My whole point was to show that PS3 players are either waiting for that killer app, or they're using it as a Blu Ray player.

yeah i linked the wrong hyper =( i meant that one to show what the 360 was last year not the 5.1 andi got mixed up, my bad. The only solid number i saw currently was 5.7 for the 360 and a 4-6 everywhere else. My main point was the PS3 is just about where the 360 was this time last year as far as attach rate goes, and with arguably less good games (no GRAW), not at 1.5. So if your main point was to show how none of us buy games and we all buy BD's and your main reference point is the 1.5, id say you have no point or basis, so your point is moot. based on the main point of your argument revolving around launch numbers. And i know when looking up numbers sometime you get mixed up (same with my link from Oct) But i think based on your argument revolving around the wrong numbers, you really dont have a case when we know theyre around 3.4 and not 1.5

http://www.vgcharts.org/japweekly.php As of the end of the week of March 25th the attachement rate in Japan is 1.24 1,077,250 - Software sold 829,250 - Consoles sold Attachement rate of 1.24

Movies on Blu Ray discs brings some cash for Sony too. Nothing wrong here.

Yeah, there's nothing wrong with the Blu Ray, if it became the dominant format then I would have a reason to purchase a PS3.

Im wondering why try to put people in catgories. If some one wants a ps3 they get one simple as that. making catigories for why they are buying one now is dumb cause this time of the year sales for ALL consoles go down as there aren't sop many games released. And dont give me that bull about waiting for AAA games. all AAA games dont always sell like alot of people think they do. Thier is a big group of people who just buy the type of games they like so deal with it. Also i dont know of a single person with a ps3 who is only using it for blu ray movies. people buy it fot the games first and blu ray movie is a big extra, and justifies the price paid for it. The brand name is strong but it doesn't make people blind. if they see a game they like then the name of the console just backs it up. Price is only a temperary factor and as you can see people spend money on what they really want. price just slows down how fast they get it. and when it come to attch rate you guys ever think about renting games. Gamefly is hugh now and blockbuster jumped into online game renting as well as gameflix that is similar to blockbuster. renting games are more popular than ever cause game prices has jump 10 bux

windbane said: As for the Wii, I agree that it's great fun for lots of people and I plan to get one (I was going to get 1 sooner but I'm busy with the PS3 for now). However, let's not stretch the truth. Red Steel has bad controls and there are plenty of games that had light guns before. Remember duck hunt? Yeah, those have been around for awhile. As for slashing, the same thing is possible with the PS3. In fact, 2K7 uses a "swing" motion to hit baseballs. (Just played the demo yesterday.) Warioware was on the gamecube, granted the controls may be more fun. Wario gets old soon, at least according to most reviews. Warioware is the 2nd highest rated Wii game at only 82.3% on gamerankings. Granted, I'd like to rent it.
im sorry, but there is no way it can be as good. here is why: first of all, the wiimote can rest comfortably as a baseball bat, obviously the ps2 controller doesnt have that ability. second of all, and this is a REALLY REALLY BIG THING you must agree on. wiimote isnt just sensitive to tilt, it is sensitive to height, and speed. take wii sports for example. try bunting. you can see the bat height can be adjusting alot. the ps3, its like hiting A to swing, it swings the set way and either adjusts for you or just the standard way or way its set. (ive never played any baseball game before, so im not sure exactly how it works, but you get my point. note the speed, its speed depends on how hard you swing. (kinda like.... real baseball) heres something funny, go to gamewinners.com and go to the cheats/hints for wii sports, one of the hints is, "Baseball: Easy Homeruns: To hit a baseball out of the park, swing with as much power as possible. Time your swing just right and you will hit it out of the park." hmm, kind of reminds me of real baseball. the guy who put thats an idiot, but you get my point. those are 2 huge things that add so much to the game that the ps3 cant ever have. its a big deal, the by how hard you swing speed, being able to bunt just by.. bunting, and actually having to hold the wiimote the right height to hit the ball. very real, you cant deny that. heres the link for that baseball "cheat," (if swinging like in realife is a cheat) http://www.gamewinners.com/wii/WiiSports.htm its only a little ways down the page.
windbane said: Now, something you just flat out lied about: Madden 07 might be the 3rd highest rated game on the Wii so far but it was beat out by the ratings on both the Xbox 1 and PS2 versions. I think most "hard core" gamers will agree that the defensive controls were not on par with normal controllers. And for some reason EA did not put all the features that the last gen games had in the next gen games. This year, most sports games will look a lot better on the 360 and PS3; I hope the controls are far superior on the Wii to compete with that. Basketball with a wiimote? Should be interesting.
sorry, i forget to say my source. its gamespot.com is where i base this claims on. ill list the link below. by clicking on each one you can also see what the user gave the game (as in losers like us). on gamespot it gives it a nice review that basically says it revives the game and it has a higher point rating. i will agree with you on some things. the defense, i think the only thing bad about it is if you have trouble geting the pointer on the screen. that just takes time to get used to, once you do you can literally call shifts and put players in zone or whatever just as fast as with a reg. controller. (i assume thats what your refering to, because the actually playing on D after the snap is identical) i can shift the line, linebackers, do whatever with the safties and all the ussual things i do before the snap in the same time, it just takes time to get used to. lifting the wiimote and nunchuck to intercept is great, feels natural and rather instinctive (how many of us madden losers havnt lifted the controller once in awhile when going for a big pick? thats what i thought). just the wiimote to deflect, all good things that work great. as for them getting rid of things, i agree. im not sure if its same for all consoles (although i see no reason why they would only eliminate this things for the wii). for example, when playing on all-madden, it turns off pass assist, QB assist, those things, and DOES NOT allow you to turn them back on. it also turns on QB vision, and does not allow you to turn back off (as long as your playing on all-madden). another thing, and this really annoys me, you can have the QB just genaricly look streight forward durring the play, you have to lock on somebody or do it yourself after the snap. i also dont like how on the wii version, you cant call timeouts without going to the menu. i dont understand why. there are free buttons they could have used, or maybe you could have made it so you hold the wiimote sideways over the nunchuck and tap them together to call a timeout. but they didnt, but that isnt a big deal. some big pluses, running is great. i never stiff armed before in any other madden until now just because its so natural and easy to do using the wiimote. drumming the controllers in sertain situations causes you to plow, which is real nice. (do they have something like that in the other versions? (only probably with tapping a button)) one great thing, taunting. its so much fun to taunt a friend. hold wiimote out to hold right hand out, nunchuck, for left, and drum the 2 to just do side to side highstep. link for gamespot reviews for madden 07: http://www.gamespot.com/search.html?type=11&stype=all&tag=search%3Bbutton&om_act=convert&om_clk=search&qs=madden&x=49&y=11 anyway, moving on.
windbane said: *sigh*. GTA would not be the same game on the Wii. The Wii could not handle the graphics. Kingdom Hearts, we shall see, but the game would certainly look better on the PS3. Guitar Hero and GTA are already on the 360 as well, but I suppose the Wii might get it. Big deal, the 360 has downloadable songs, would the Wii version? I'm glad you are on top of all the rumors for games going to the Wii, but some games will just not play as well on that system.
its already announced a guitar hero for not only the wii, and the DS, set to release sometime in 08(should be interesting). as for downloading songs, im sure they can have that. when watching slideshows of your pics from SD cards on the wii, it gives you the option to import songs from your MP3s on you SD card onto the wii, so they basically already have a start to that. i agree with the guy who says people make too big a deal about whether the wii can handle games like GTA or not. so just refer to that guys post.
windbane said: Btw, stop giving away game elements such as the Zelda stuff above. I will play the game eventually and I don't want to know what happens. So yeah, you missed a lot of stuff.
sorry, i didnt mean to give alway any spoilers, although for everyones info, its a really great, fine tuned, game. (and after 5 million delays, it ought to be)

A delayed game is good someday, a bad game is bad forever.

Narfer:  The PS3 controller does account for speed.  In fact, the baseball game told me to "swing" the controller faster to hit harder.  I'll give you that it's easier to hold a Wiimote like a baseball bat, but it's not hard to hold the PS3 controller.  Also, I think the height thing is something that could be programmed on the PS3 as well.  I'm not sure it was in the baseball game 2k7, but the controller is sensitive to height changes, just like the Wiimote.  That could be done as well.  I think the PS3 motion sensing is better than people give it credit for.  The only thing it doesn't have of course is the sensor to calculate angles, which means it just detects changes through movement.

The big problem with the Wiimote has been FPS camera movement versus aiming, or perhaps that was just Red Steel.  That I hope can be tuned.  I'd like to see adjustments made based on where the sensors are located and the size of the TV.

As for Madden, my source is gamerankings.com that averages all the ratings from every major game website and magazine. I think they'll tune it so we'll see is future versions.  However, there will be enhancements for the 360 and PS3 versions as well, so we'll see with those as well.  I have heard the stiff-arming is fun on the Wii, as well as passing.  I just wanted to point out that on average magazines preferred the previous generation madden 07s better, mainly because of features that were left out for unexplainable reasons.  It sucks that EA has a monopoly on it right now.

As for GTA.  Ugh.  It's not just GTA, it's every huge game that comes out.  Everything will be scaled down.  I'm sure the Wii could handle A GTA, but could it handle the next and greatest GTA?  No, not unless it is scaled down.  Obviously the PS2 GTAs could be ported over to the Wii, but porting games like MGS4, FF13, GTA, etc, etc would not yield as great results.

I'm sure an exclusive GTA would be great for the Wii as well.
