Those of you having a go at him saying "GOW3 will be goty, or GT5 will, how do you know it wont, have you played them?" etc..

Nobody knows how those games will do. You have not played them either (except demos).

So you can't criticise his opinion of it not being goty by saying it could be. Because that is basically saying the same thing.

Mass Effect 2 has done very well and by all accounts will be one of the games up for game of the year, its metascore pretty much gurantees that.

Both consoles have a good line up of games this year, which means we the gamers win.

Sony saying stuff like this is nothing new, they will always say stuff like this. Expect MS to come out and say something equally as dumb in response.

Sony can't get GOTY? Hello? GT5, GoW3, The Last Guardian? I guess all those games just don't exist do they.

Even with Sony's strong first party lineup they still need third party support. Anyone remember what happened when Nintendo lost 3rd party? I couldn't care less about 3rd party eclusivity and really that's all the M$ has. Sony's first party lineup, however, was devastating to M$ last year. PS3 has come into its own and if they continue throwing out monster games M$ is going to have a serious problem.

PS3 - God of War III, The Last Guardian

360 - Halo Reach, Mass Effect 2, Splinter Cell

Wii - Zelda, Mario Galaxy 2

GOTY contenders IMO.
