What are you struggling with?
Make sure you:
Take off auto aim
Change everything to BC1 controls (except for chopper, which I changed to Lefty)
Inverse Chopper vertical
Adjust sensitivity as needed
Stay behind cover at all times. When you run, you run towards the next cover. No strafing unless at very very close range, and at that point you should be going for a very quick headshot anyway.
Remember, you can tracer the snipers as well, so use those if you're an engineer.

I'm simply struggling with my K/D ration (rufly 0.6). It feels like my shots often don't stick like they should.
Yeah, I need exactly those kind of tips. Stay behind cover... good. So when Im in close combat I should aim for the head, not upper body?
What do u mean "trace the snipers" as engineer?
Chopper I havent learn to fly yet. Im a good at flying in ETQW but this has different controls. U sure I should invert vertical axis?
Auto aim is not an option since Im playing PC.
Sensitivity, its always hard to get the exact right one to suit you.
FYI Ive never played BC1 and not BF2 either. Only 1942 but that was a long time ago.

Yes, go for the head at close range. Hip firing is very accurate at close range, so don't be afraid to use it if you're taken completely off guard.
As an Engineer, you get an RPG. At a certain rank, you will get the tracer dart. Using those two things together, you can succesfully snipe the snipers as an Engineer with an RPG. The tracer dart is very accurate, with no gravity pull. So just spot a sniper, point the crosshair at the orange cone, fire, and you should see a nice box. Take cover, zoom with the RPG onto the box, see the numbers, aim up, and fire.
Enjoy imagining the shocked look on the sniper's face when he sees an RPG just twist in an impossible way towards him.
IDK what controls you're used to for chopper. Adjust as you need to, I'm just telling you my personal preferences.
Yes, sensitivity is a personal thing.
Oh, wow, I thought you were an BC vet XD
Ask KylieDog for better advice, but from me:
1) This is definetly not a run and gun game. Most times when you shoot, you should be doing it in the crouched position without any running.
2) Never take the enemy from the front. Always take the sides, go around, etc. But never fight a grinding and fair battle from the front.
3) Destructible environments. Particularly with the Rush mode, you can blow entire buildings down by destroying enough walls. You'll also get a lot of kills if there are enemies camping inside the house.
4) Always run away if in a disadvantage. Suddenly get shot behind? Don't hope that you can turn around and get a headshot. Just run for the nearest cover you can, throw a grenade close by to buy sometime, if you can keep running away and almost play Splintercell in first person.
IDK... very hard to teach someone how to paly XD
