I recently build a PC similar to what you're looking at. I would recommend an ATI graphics card, better models right now. Thats a pricey mobo you've picked, are you planning on running 2 ggraphics cards? That would also explain the 700W power supply. What are you planning on doing with this PC ? Also, for an additional $20 you can nearly double the size of that hard rive... just sayin.
Read thorugh this thread. Helped me select quality parts and made a huge difference for me. Have a look at the Lian Li cases as well, I got one and its a really good aluminum case for a reasonable price.
yeah i been reading ur thread....im very new at this. But i plan to keep the machine for a very long time and upgrade it down the road when new cards come out. do you recommend any changes?
Oy. Where to begin...
First, Socket LGA1366 is not a gaming platform. It's a platform for people who want to run CPU- and RAM-intensive apps at the cost of bucketloads of cash. Switch out the i7-920 for an i5-750, the mobo for this one (or similar), and the 6 GB triple-channel RAM for 4 GB dual-channel.
Second, the GTS 250 is not a good gaming video card unless you like 20 FPS framerates in Crysis with no AA. What resolution will you be running at?
Third, the PSU wattage is way overkill, and OCZ sucks. The PSU is the most important component in your system (seriously - it's the only one that can fry everything if you get a crappy one). My standard recommendation is a Corsair 550VX: it's built rock-solid, carries a five-year warranty, and should be able to run anything short of Crossfired Radeon 5870s or something crazy like that.
Finally, I'd reconsider the case. Cooler Master's Centurion 5 has all you need for a basic build at half the price, or you could get something stellar like a Lian Li PC-K7B for the same price.
Please let me know if you have any more questions.

^^ Listen to this man, he knows his shit (Thanks again btw, my PC is fantastic).
My advice: get a ATI graphics card, or if you really want Nvidea, wait a month for their new cards to come out. But it'll cost you a fortune.
I got a Radeon 5850 and it phenominal for the price.
thanks for the help...i would like to run at 1920x1080 cause that what the monitor i want can do. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236051

No problem! At that resolution, you'll probably want a Radeon 5770. I'd recommend this one: it's $5 more than the cheaper 1GB models, but features one of XFX's kick-ass cooling units.

and just a note I know a few people that would never buy a western digital HDD because of their unreliability personally I haven't had a problem but just saying.

Are you mistaking Western Digital for Seagate or something? WD's Caviar Blue and Black lines are pretty much the gold standard of reliable boot HDDs these days. The only less-than-stellar product they make is the Caviar Green line, and, well, those are slow drives meant for bulk storage.

this is the updated list...is there anything else that need tweaking?
