Forums - General Discussion - BluRay, I hate you sometimes.

Hm, it always remember my progress in a movie, provided I haven't done too much in between viewings.  Though I generally finish any movies I'm viewing in one run, so I haven't tested this out in awhile.

My main complaint is Warner. Those guys always put out the best Blu-rays, and they rigged it so that their releases contained no previews at all, and instead of going to a menu after putting the disc in, it simply went straight to the film. That's how it was on 300, Batman Begins, the Dark Knight, and all my other Warner films. Press the disc icon on the XMB, and bam, the movie was playing.

Then I got I Am Legend two months ago (at least I think this was the one), and I had to forward through like five fucking previews. And after all that, I got to a menu, and from there I had to hit play.

Why Warner? Why!?! I thought I knew you!

my (PS3) blu-ray player never seems to remember where I left off either. My DVD player does, but I always have to go to scene selection or fast forward to get back to where it was.

I also don't like that they still have the previews all tacked on the front. The first round of discs I got didn't have any previews at all and I thought it was the greatest thing. At least all the ones I've rented you can just press skip on.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

I dunno, Twes. I can put in my copy of Superman/Batman: Public Enemies on Blu-Ray and it'll remember where I left off months ago. Same thing for DVD's.

I can't figure out how to select commentary on some Blu-Rays, though. I guess I need to buy a remote instead of using a controller. I don't have a huge collection (Thank You, Netflix!) of Blu-Rays, so I haven't encountered the preview issues that you have. I actually still watch DVD's 80% of the time.

I think you need to go to the "real" menu or something. If you press triangle, you can select it, and you should get to it.

doesn't sound like that big of a deal to me,

some dvd's you can't skip adverts etc,

on blu-ray you can skip most times form my experience,i only use my controller,

but you're right sometimes it remembers where you are, sometimes it doesn't not too sure why,but is it such a big deal to go to scenes to pick up where you left of,

blu-ray menus/features are superb,miles better than dvd's

Well, I just stop playing the movie and turn my ps3 off...simple as that..

Are you sure that you're not selecting "Play From Beginning" option ?

There's a play from beginning option?  I just press play.

Why don't you just finish watching the movie if this happens so much?

I remember I was able to stop a Blu-ray movie once and continue watching where it left off after a couple days, so I think it's your PS3 screwing you over again, do you beat it every night or something? it seems to have something in for you.

Also I could of sworn DVDs were the same with ads, you were not allow to skip some of them and had to watch them.

Maybe Twesterm erases his settings or something. Like I said, if I took a disc out of the console, and watched something else, the disc would still start where I left off when I put it back in. No ads or previews or anything --even if days have passed.

Press triangle when choosing the disc, for options, you'll find it there.
