Forums - Gaming Discussion - Which old console should I purchase?

Well... seeing as these systems are not new I can garauntee that you could at least 3 of them for under $150, probably under 100. Go big or go home, get them all.

Get the SNES. When you realize how many great games it has, you'll be overwhelmed. But then the SNES will come down, caress you, and tell you it's alright. And then you can play Final Fantasy 6, Chrono Trigger, etc. And you will grow to love it.

But it will only love you if you blow it.

Tease.

NES is the way to go.

If you're looking for one that you also want to play, however, SNES is the way to go.

If you want to play games, get the SNES. It is the greatest console of all time.

SNES,that system has the most classics pre PS systems.

Forget VC on Wii...does not even have a fraction of the amazing titles on SNES plus you can find cheap on ebay or specialty local game shops many great obscure games like Musya and more.

The only reason the MOM, got the 13grand was because there was a single game that has only 10 copies in the entire wold in pristine condition with the box and instructions still in tact.
You will not get anything close to that. Especially since if you do an E-bay search for NES, you can see that you can get it for only 30 bux or less, fully working.

I've got a collection of old consoles and games.

Be warned as a collector I only pay money for items in mint condition.

Most of my "collected" games are as new and some are even still sealed.

Pride of place in my collection goes to either my unopened Simpsons edition N64 or my mint condition Pitfall for the Atari 2600.

Collecting old consoles is great fun, but the optimum time for the purchase is after the initial surge of interest and before the stop selling them new.

I only bought the Simpsons N64 because it was sealed and only cost 80 Bucks from the shop.

You could still buy N64's at the time but the Dreamcast had launched and the nex gen was just round the corner.

My near mint Pitfall I paid a fortune for.

Timing is everything.

None, because they're all obsolete.

You'll have fun for a few hours then regret your purchase.

SNES, best console ever.
