Forums - PC Discussion - Antivirus Soft is killing my computer. Help!

Another recommendation for Security Essentials here.

If I could find some way to hate it I would say.

Around the Network

I had that last week and just started deleting random files I didn't trust. I found that some of the malware's files were located in C://Windows/Prefetch

The virus had a different name but it could be the same thing.

get AVG im running it with microsoft essentials, and uninstall that crap

Although many will argue, there are a couple good anti-virus programs like mentioned however none are good at stopping malware/adware. My suggestion is to use Firefox with the NoScript addon and the AdBlock addon. The combination of those 2 addons not only make surfing the internet 2x as fast but they ensure that you are allowing only the scripts that you want on the page. You can set it to always allow certain scripts on certain sites so its only a pain to setup once and then its fine. I've found that combo can stop even the most virus prone users from getting infected ;)

Good luck and let me know if you still have issues, I can point you to pre boot scanners which can work if safe mode is broken (new viruses are doing that now).

I got something like this too. I just slipped through my panda-wirewall. I don't click on any pop-ups.

I got the thing off. But it had rewritten a lot of things. One of them, was the fact that every file had VIRUSALERT written at the details.

In the end i had to reinstall windows. Sucks.

I'm using Microsoft Security Essentials with the Windows 7 Firewall and I have no issues.

- Install program by double clicking mbam-setup.exe setup file.
- Stick to the guidelines when installing the program.
- Make sure you update the program with latest entries.
- Start computer scan by launcing the program and pressing "Scan" button.

- Computer restart might be necessary. I'm not

I'm not sure if Kaspersky will be able to remove Antivirus Soft, well maybe Internet Security version will. All i know that Malwarebytes' AntiMalware is a good and free program. try it:

- Before downloading setup file, go to Antivirus Soft on Pcindanger.com and read section "To start Antivirus Soft removal process". It explains how to kill malicious process.

- Then instead of downloading Spyware Doctor proceed with Malwarebytes program.

- Install program by double clicking mbam-setup.exe setup file.

- Stick to the guidelines when installing the program.

- Make sure you update the program with latest entries.

- Start computer scan by launching the program and pressing "Scan" button.

- After the scan has been completed, click "Show Results", then "Remove Selected".

- Computer restart might be necessary.

Ever wonder why the banks hadn't shut down these malware accounts, eh? Probably has to do with taking a cut of the money from us commoners...
