The problem is that 'midrange specs' is too weak to play any recent PC games. And high-end is barely good enough but is hugely expensive and the laptops have poor battery life and are heavy.
Could your need be fulfilled by a small form factor PC? Because that would be a third of the price, actually be able to handle games at your native resolution on medium-high settings, and not have the issues of a high-end laptop.

Anything in Class 2 is considered Midrange, anything Class 1 high-end. But even those midrange cards are pathetically weak compared to cheap desktop cards.
