At least this wasn't nearly as bad as those Turn 10 comments.

Yeah, because calling Gran Turismo "stale" is totally worse than saying you can't play another racing game outside of Gran Turismo for 5 minutes. Give me a freaking break. Both of them are bad, why can't everyone just man up and admit that Yamauchi isn't perfect anymore?

Who says he did anything wrong? Other games are inferior in quality to GT in many aspects. I see no problems here. He's not making untrue baseless claims.

Saying you can't play another racing game for 5 minutes due to the "lack of quality" is garbage and you know it. Heaven forbid someone like a racing game other than Gran Turismo.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

"Actually I find it difficult to play the other games in more than five minutes at a time."

In all fairness he said he couldn't play it for more than five minutes, he didn't mention me, you or that guy. If I was making a game, I'd probably feel mine is superior as well because all the qualities and features I want in a game will be available to me. It's his opinion, his representing himself.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

If we're taking the "in all fairness" route, I have to ask why it was so hard not to make a statement about other games at all. Why can't anybody in the racing genre respect other games at all? I don't care if that's really his opinion at all. I care that he spouted his mouth off without showing any respect for other games that people worked long and hard on. The fact that so many people are handing him a free pass on this is just irritating.

No one should be allowed a free pass, he said something stupid. His lucky he didn't go off the handle and mention his competitors directly, if he did the feedback would probably be more severe. This is a competition though, he need's to make sure everyone gets that his game is better than Dirt, Need for Speed, Forza, Motorstorm, Burnout etc (even though it may not be true). I do agree though that the racing genre seem's to attract far more competitive outburst's than other's, which is weird.

Mr. GT: Forever imo doesn't have room to flap his jaw until he can back up what he's saying by actually putting a bit more info on the table.
GT:HD, GT5:P don't count when comparing full released games

yes it's his opinion, and he's entitled to it, but without something to back it up he just comes across as a bit lame.

don't forget he's already shown and blown his credibility when he said they could release GT:5 at any time they wished, then postponed a release?

I never understood the comparisons between Duke Nukem and GT in terms of "never coming out."  I mean Duke was in development for over 10 years and in that time they barely released photos, let alone videos of the game being played.  GT5, on the other hand, has released both in pretty steady intervals, as well as a retail and online demo.  It's pretty well known that Kazunori Yamauchi is a perfectionist, mostly in the performance, handling, and visuals of the vehicles, so I can see why he's taking a longer time to release GT5 when using the new hardware of the PS3.  Putting it into context, GT4 came out 3 1/2 years after GT3, and I don't remember people talking about how that game would never come out.  So to me ~4 years isn't that big a deal.  Trust me it's coming, it's just too important for Sony for it not to release.

Also Yamauchi was stating that they could release it anytime they wanted to, as the basic game was finished, but that it wouldn't be as polished.  Basically he's not just going to release a game full of bugs and of low quality just to appease some release date or demand.  Because if they did do that, ultimately it would let down fans and himself.  Granted I do wish he would have held his tongue on in this interview of late, but it could be a bad translation or he may not have been given time to clarify.  I would guess he mostly was speaking about the handling of cars in other games.

Call me frustrated, but I'm frustrated.

Arrogant.

I wondered how long it would take him to retaliate. So much shit taken from Turn 10 the past few months... He had to break sometime.

Anyway, i need to continue being a Gran Turismo fanboy. So i stand by Kaz in his crusade against the evil of other games.

Definitive

If thats the case why didn't he point hs comments at turn 10 instead of the WHOLE racing scene?

Why can't he have an opinion? And if you really believe he literally meant 5 minutes then... I don't even know. Theres maybe, 2 racing games this gen that can be compared to GT's level of realism, so I can see where he is coming from. Other than Burnout Paradise, I haven't played any other racing game this gen for more than "5" minutes because I don't find them fun. Am I a terrible person for that?

I read this as him saying GT1-GT4 all suck now that he has played GT5. Give it to us so we can fell the same.
