I never understood the comparisons between Duke Nukem and GT in terms of "never coming out." I mean Duke was in development for over 10 years and in that time they barely released photos, let alone videos of the game being played. GT5, on the other hand, has released both in pretty steady intervals, as well as a retail and online demo. It's pretty well known that Kazunori Yamauchi is a perfectionist, mostly in the performance, handling, and visuals of the vehicles, so I can see why he's taking a longer time to release GT5 when using the new hardware of the PS3. Putting it into context, GT4 came out 3 1/2 years after GT3, and I don't remember people talking about how that game would never come out. So to me ~4 years isn't that big a deal. Trust me it's coming, it's just too important for Sony for it not to release. Also Yamauchi was stating that they could release it anytime they wanted to, as the basic game was finished, but that it wouldn't be as polished. Basically he's not just going to release a game full of bugs and of low quality just to appease some release date or demand. Because if they did do that, ultimately it would let down fans and himself. Granted I do wish he would have held his tongue on this issue, but it could be a bad translation or he may not have been given time to clarify. I would guess he mostly was speaking about the handling of cars in other games. |
Call me frustrated, but I'm frustrated.
