It's a travesty, I tell ya!

SMG is so old it's almost just as if it was LAST GEN wakka wakka!

The game is too easy and linear for me... It's a let down after playing Sunshine.

There is a certain range of quality where it is difficult/impossible to say that one game is better than another; and that you can only really say that you prefer a certain game over another. Super Mario Galaxy is definitely in this range with the best games of the generation, and I don’t think you could claim that any game was better than it.

I don't agree with the best game or best movie or best book or whatever claims because people's likes and dislikes are not uniform. I'm sure there are a lots of WoW, Starcraft and Modern Warfare players for example that would prefer their respective games over Super Mario Galaxy.

If you want to talk about all games from a specific genre then maybe it holds some weight but comparing all games from different genres and declaring one game the best or making a top 10 or 100 or whatever list is ridiculous.

SMG is a near perfect game and I would be hard pressed to find a better gameplay experience this gen. Maybe Uncharted.

I'd agree with that.  If the level design in the sequel is as inventive and fun as the original, but ramps up the difficulty a touch, I could be playing my favourite ever game in a few months.  I need to go back to Galaxy actually, for some reason I finished it as soon as I could, and never got round to getting the extra stars, despite how much I loved it.

yes you do!

The worst thing about it is very little replayability. Its too linear.

The best thing about it, innovation, is hands down better than anything else this gen.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

the single reason why i want a wii, i loved metroid prime, but i could live without, zelda never understood the appeal, but man do i want to play galaxy so bad lol....maybe if they make a n64 star fox again id definently dive in.

"even a dead god still dreams"

Loved it, and there were hard bits - Luigi's purple coins and daredevil Bouldergeist spring to mind. And a couple of the Dreadnought stars. Not Megaman hard, but tough enough I thought.
