I don't mind of they make some changes, but nothing drastic like that f***ed up boomerang prototype controller.
I would like a new controller next gen, but I still prefer it to the x360 pad. The 360 has really crappy shoulder buttons/triggers, but I don't like the ps3 triggers either. Also, larger and flatter face buttons > smaller and convex buttons.

yeah i think a redesign would be good...i've never been a fan of the ps2/ps3 controller
biggest thing for me is that I would want the left analog stick to switch positions and make the analog sticks feel more like the wii analog stick or the 360 ones
also, im not a fan of that boomerang design
I started making videos for youtube; check them out.

Im starting to question how some of you "use" your controller |
I honestly never understood why people complained about the layout of the analog sticks on the dualshock. Do people even realize that the right analog stick on the XBox360 controller is basically in the same area as the dualshock analog sticks? Are people's left hands deformed or something, which makes it uncomfortable for the left analog stick to be in the lower position, but perfectly fine for the right analog stick? No one ever complains about the right analog stick on the XBox360, but everyone complains about the left analog stick on the dualshock.
Anyways, I'd like a new controller. Something a bit bigger, with better grips, and better triggers.
People complain about the design of the Dualshock, but I don't have much of an issue with it. The triggers and sticks could probably use a slight concave though.
Pyramid Head said: to clarify about the ps on the buttons, it may be there, but the buttons are so close to being depressed, that it feels like you cant control it as much as you could if the buttons were more raised. thats all i mean. |
QFE, they have pressure sensitivity, but they're really only controllable to a few(less than 10) ranges. Far less than the 256(TBH, I'm not sure if the DS3 has even more precision, but that's what the DS2 had) they actually have and nowhere near the control triggers or sticks allow, not that I'd expect them to anyway. Not that I consider it a drawback, I just don't think it's an amazing feature either.
I voted yes, but nothing too drastic. Same design really, but I would like a bit more bulk to it so my hands don't feel so cramped and would be happy with a left stick & d-pad switch. I've gotten along fine since the SNES controller(not my first one, but basically the DS-1) though, so if there's no changes I'll manage.

except the right analog is rarely used (unless you like FPSs), while the left stick is almost always used. I don't complain about the right stick because the only place to move it would force the buttons to be in an ackward spot. However, when I do play FPSs the right stick always irritates me (on every system, since the GC and X360 have it in the same spot). The classic controller for the Wii has the same exact problem.
Personally I would love to see the Breakaway Controller Concept they demoed awhile back.
The PS controller is an Icon. You don't mess with Icons!! I prefer upgrade the original like they have done in previous iterations i.e. From Ps1 days to DS3 days. Same Controller evolved.
