SCE Asia reports that the PS3 crossed 1 million (shipped) mark (and PSP is at 6 million shipped in the region).

SCE Asia currently covers Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The recent SCE Gulf report stated 450 000 units shipped in the Middle East as of December 2009.

That brings the total shipment to 1.45 million units, with South Aftica being the only missing piece (45.5k sold as of Nov. 2008, per Core Gaming report).

VGC tracks this region as Other "other" and its current number is at 1,580,148.

Accounting for the missing year from South Africa (by far the biggest video games seller on the continent) and the shipped vs. sold dicrepancy, it looks like VGC is doing a darn good job at tracking such a gray and elusive market.

I would still like to see what the numbers are in China, I suspect that they are bigger then any of us think.

I saw this documentary on swedish television about newcoming chineese millionaires that have been going crazy buying high end luxury items, and according to that documentary there were quite many of them in the past years so I am not too sure and PS3 would fit the bill as a high end luxury item with a status symbol.

You're forgetting India, New Zealand, and the rest of Oceania (Iceland?). Although yes, I wouldn't anticipate a huge discrepancy for the region.

New Zealand and Oceania are lumped together with Australia on VGC and the Indian market is quite small, well below South Africa.
