Company's keep on shipping consoles all the time.. But they got the habit to Ship it in large party's. But it's very unlikely that Sony didn't ship any consoles during January. Especially with the recent report of Ps3 shortages. (The reports that point out that there are to few Ps3 on store-shelves)

And if Sony discovered a flaw in a batch of 200k that were defective?

Like I said, there are so many possible reasons that it's best not to even worry about it. It will all get sorted out soon enough.

That could be a partial explanation, but still, that would still put the Ps3 numbers above the 'usual buffer', and that isn't likely with a shortage..

I think that since we haven't even heard from brett or the source today, then there must be something going on with the numbers/ they know it is undertracked and will fix it when they figure out which country is undertracked, or fix their data. That's just a presumptuous conclusion though. They may not be commenting on anything because they're tired of our shit, lol.

It's also very unlikely, but not impossible, that there's a flaw in a batch of Slims.. There have been no problems with them, as of now. And if it would be a production error, it would be spotted before making 200k units ^^.

EDIT: With "no problems with them", I mean major problems. The 60 GB suffer from massive Hardware malfunctions. The Slims don't have these..

@Red, Lol

But if that's the case, wouldn't it be better to report that to the community?

You ever have one of those days where it just seems like nothing can go right?

It's possible that something like this happened to the shipments. Maybe 200k had to be recycled because of failures, 20k were given to charities, 5k went to the air force, 10k just up and disappeared, 30k got delayed on a ship that ran out of fuel, 50k got hijacked by pirates... etc etc

These things can add up, but they're not exactly probable. Honestly there is probably some combination of overstocking in several countries/regions, stockpiling for an upcoming shortage expectation, some undertracking on vgc, and some production problems. Seriously, Sony sold way more systems over the holiday than they expected to. They expected to sell like 10M for the financial year and are selling like 13 or something.

Hey Rickz0r, did you that there was a quarter a few years back where Sony only shipped 10,000 PSP's?

Think on that for a moment.

Forget About Doing Everything For Less, JUMPING IN, and Nintendo's Saying Whatever It Is Mine's SONY ONLY

BHR-3- Would you please tell me what this means, I am in the dark, thanks

oh man thats funny right there i get someone quoting my sig in threads alot lately wat the hell does this have to do with the thread

just messing with u back in the day people all on vgc had in red cap letters ps3 is the future now believe this got to 360 guys so they put 360 is the future now jump in in green caps in there sigs  then wen the slim came out they changed there saying to it only does everything for less and added that to there sigs i didnt want to join this gang so i made my own saying sony only it also rhymes too

OT i think we should all just calm down on this console war and all "my ps3 is undertracked" "no my 360 is undertracked" "ha ha my Wii is beating you all" its just a piece of plastic who cares if the sales are not excatly perfect the truth will expose itself soon as stated already if theres something off im sure vgc will fix it just be paitient

also it doesnt matter shipped vs sold use shipped #s to base the console war between ps3 and 360 its more acurate eventually the consoles shipped will get sold right? its not like there going to just stop selling and stay on shelves and the sales will stay the way they are

@BH3, to me the Console War is one big Illusion.. This stuff is just important to me, since I'm sometimes using Vgchartz's numbers for important meetings and presentations..

(Sorry for a possible Double Post)
But still, even if Sony didn't ship any units from the beginning of 2010 (Again, that's very unlikely), then there are 1.85 million Ps3 on the shelves. Even that seems pretty strange with the recent reports of shortages..
