There isn't one single game that stands out as the best, really. There are a ton that are absolutely brilliant.
Although Link's Awakening comes to mind. Imo, it's the pinnacle of 2D Zelda glory, and when it came out, lightyears ahead of any other 8-bit game. Truly astonishing.

Super Smash Bros series never lets me down on quality. Not once has A SSB game ever shown a lack of quality and the amount of fun and multiplayer experience is almost uncomparable to other Nintendo games. Brawl rises above all.
