It could be a proper RE spinoff, like a direct sequel to 4 or something. Mayhap Darkside Chronicles' lacklustre responses have convinced them.
Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Well I want to be the one saying it before it becomes obvious or conventional wisdom, lol. |
Well, in that you succeeded. Still, I'll believe it when I see it.

I don't think they will. This generation is set in stone already. The Wii will only get at most ports and if lucky the will at least release on time with the HD releases. Capcom got smacked hard with BC and Dark Void but Lost Planet and Dead Rising will make up for them on that side for them to put forth more effort MH3 would need to likely outsell one if not both games.
Capcom have the IP's to sustain HD developement though, even as Bionic Commando and Dark Void flop they'll have a steady flow of income coming in from Resdient Evil, Devil May Cry, Dead Rising, Lost Planet, Street Fighter and various downloadable things.
I struggle to see them really going 'all out' on the Wii as I don't think they've any property which really fits the market that well. Resdient Evil could do - but any 'major' resdient evil game is better suited to the HD consoles, where it will sell better and do so at a higher retail price. Megaman is the one exception which maybe could be a big hit with the Wii users, but it's been so long since he's had a success which isn't on a handheld or downloadable - there's as much chance a new 3d Megaman could do a Bionic Commando as it could a Street Fighter IV.
Imo Capcom are positioned much stronger then any of the other 3rd party Japanese publishers (Minus Square Enix), while I think they're overall strategy of trying to develop more HD IP's through western developement is a positive one, they need to make sure they give the task to capable staff... It currently just puzzles me as to what they could really do with the Wii right now that'd be a break-through success, given the type of software they typically produce.
I generally see that third parties have hurt themselves (and continue to do so) moreso than hurting the Wii.
The problems facing Capcom and many other thirds is that they don't have their most popular franchises on the most popular platform. That hurts them.
The thing about Wii is that its success is not attributed to third party games..Some try to peg that as a weakness but that is an extremely enviable position to be in.
Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:
If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.
If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.
RolStoppable said: What you say sounds good in theory, but what about prestige? I think that's a reason why many third party companies hesitate to make major games for the Wii. The gaming industry seeks to impress one another and nobody wants to fall behind by making a "lousy" Wii game. |
Let me call up Free Radical, and Radical Entertainment, or Pandemic Studios and ask how it feels to have prestige?

Those studios are just peanuts in the bigger picture. |
Fine, just give it a few more years and we'll try and call John Riccitiello and ask him about prestige.

Are you two both like pretending the others serious or is one of you just being really stupid?

From Rol's track record I'm 100% sure he believes what he's saying.
