Hrm... it was definitely a mixture of things. But if I had to say one thing I suppose it would be the "exclusives" (I liked your 360 wording better ) for the system.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was a big factor in buying the Wii on launch day, but I was also very interested in these "motion controls" that Nintendo was fussing about. So I bought titles like Rayman Raving Rabbids (fun!) Red Steel (let down!) and Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 (loved using the controller to mimic the Kamehameha ). And of course, Wii Sports was there to keep the fun going. ^_^

For me, the order of importance was:

1. Exclusives/Overall library
2. Motion Control
3. Brand Loyalty

The others were just a bonus.

brand loyalty!!! But because of their games (which are exclusive.)so its mixture.

I didn't bought a system last gen because I felt gaming was stagnating. Just the same games with better graphics. The idea of new gameplay with motion controls is what made me buy a Wii.

Was given a huge discount at launch.

Got a great deal on one.. 160 euro's.. couldn't resist..

Got mine like 2 weeks after launch. We(my family) has owned every Nintendo console at least once. Why not own a wii? We played tennis at a friends house who got it a launch and loved the hell outta it.

it was the cheapest next gen system at the time

i thought it was dumb, till i played golf on it.

then i bought a new one the next day.
