But still, 100k a month is awesome for a failing portable device. 100,000 X 180 or whatever and that's alot of cash.



Software... Has flatlined though. Hardly many new releases anymore. Lucky to get 1 game a month now.
Piracy, low support from sony (compared to ps3 attention) and a high initial price (and Phat model) made it sure to stay behind the DS while not even coming close to the iPod.



And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I'd say that, but it would be considered trolling since I don't own one. I think they died when they started charging 40$ for new games.

Yes.. but you would expect that for any console or handheld after six years or so. Sony needs to hurry up and release a PSP2..

Um. DS came out in 2004. It's selling extremely well, topping the charts most weeks. The original GameBoy was on the market 9 years before the GB Color came out. NES has been selling since the mid-eighties 'til 2003. The PS2 was still selling quite well (even outselling PS3) until relatively recently, and it came out in what, 2000? So, no, you would not expect that for any console or handheld. In fact, you'd only expect that from faltering consoles or handhelds.

Hmm, I've never had this problem. Does that have to do with the area you live in? Or your age?

I play the DS in public all the time, myself, I'm in my 20's and in the NY area. I don't exactly get weird looks, hell, I've seen other guys play on the DS on my long bus rides about as often as PSP's (both kind of rare). The console is used plenty in my college as well, more so than the PSP (again, among guys my age).

I can understand a small segment looking down on such a thing, but I doubt the majority really care about the difference between a DS and a PSP. I imagine those that do are the same people that find the Wii to be "kiddy," and I can honestly care less about what that bunch thinks.

I would bet you the demographics for the DS includes a lot of older people, including men. Brain Training is one of the best selling games of all time and has probably sold more systems to adults than all the PSP games put together.



Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

i'm sure Sony was willing to take losses on hardware at launch but that's just not the case anymore. With all the piracy going on and low software sales they aren't gonna be lowering the price yet. They did lower the price in Japan, the country that is buying software, go figure.

I'm in my 20s as well. I wouldn't know for sure if I would get weird or dirty looks for playing a DS in public around here seeing as how I haven't attempted to do so (well I have played in public but when there's no one around or very few people. ie. like sneaking in some DS action at work during slow days and when I'm going solo) But what I do notice is that I never see any male 13 or over playing a DS in public wheras I have with a PSP (though rarely). Obviously there are plenty of teenaged and adult males who own and play with the DS but it does seem like they do so mainly indoors. Guys our age mostly either fool around with their cellphone (texting) or listen to music on commutes. And like I said, you see lots of people talk smack about it online. Hopefully as you say those are just anti-Nintendo haters who think stuff like DS and Wii are kiddie and not general public opinion since I don't care what anti-Nintendo haters think either. A Pro-Playstation buddy of mine (He thinks highly of the Xbox 360 software wise so he's not a fanboy. But he doesn't think that highly of Nintendo. Let's just say that) got a PSP and commented that he thought the DS was too kiddie (I like wrote an essay in reply explaining why the DS library is awesome even for adults). Funny thing is he stopped playing his PSP altogether after like a couple months(eventhough it has CFW even). Whereas I've clocked in a good amount of time into my DS. Just not as much as of late but the Miles Edgeworth game is releasing soon so I'll be spending most of my gaming time on that.

The 360 and PS3 actually sell software. Even when the PSP's hardware sales were higher. You almost never see a PSP title make the NPD Top 10 for the month.
