Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony reveals some numbers after recent NPD release

MAG 500K is most likely shipped. Jack Tretton doesn't care if the numbers he cites are shipped or actual sales to the end customers.

So if anything this shows that antipication and demand for MAG wasn't extremely strong, as 500k ww isn't a huge shipment.

Or like you say, it's an estimation derived  from the number of registered soldiers on MAG online.

just like demon souls, don't ship a ton of a hardcore title. ship only enough, and those gotta be multiple accounts as I have 3 for each faction.

They probablly shipped closer to 800k It's normal for newly released games to have high level of stock on shelves. Considering this game sold ~300k FW and there have been two weeks after that... yeah... im comfortable in saying it aint shipped. Especially since he worded it... but keep on with your "I do not accept these sales" It charted right behind a newly released game, a high selling game with PS3 + 360 numbers, and a casual wii game thats been charting number one... yeah...  really poorly selling.

Yes i know initial shipments usually are higher for most games, but like gamings_best said, shipments could be comparatively slim this time because MAG is after all a hardcore or niche game.

With HEAVY RAIN, God of War III, and Final Fantasy XIII all within the next month, I see good times ahead for the PS3. All Sony has to do is stay consistent with the quality, while continuing to shoot for profitability, and things will continue to head North.

Amen CGI! 3 of the gens best games in the next few months!

Uncharted 2 has supassed the first game in LTD sales world wide and in the U.S and is approaching the 3 million mark

MAG has sold over half a million units to date

More than 40 million registered Playstation Network accounts have been established

3D GAMING VIA PS3 and PLAYSTATION MOTION CONTROLLER are expected to release within the year

The MAG number at the very least is spin... it just doesn't add up with the available data.

He's likely talking shipped and saying it in a very stupid way.

I doubt they are shipped since he said "chose your side" and if they only shipped 500k theyd be severly supply constrained.

More than likely numerous users per copy.

Why 500K is a perfect number for a game like this... heck look at the sales it did.  500K would be about a perfect shipment for those sales.

MAG has to have sold over 150kish week 2 then. Not bad.

No... you need to put the game in the ps3 to chose a side. It isn't shipped. It adds up perfectly. If it were shipped it be closer to 800k

Doesn't SCEA have there own factories in the U.S to produce PS3s?

Or do they only produce PS3s in japan?

My god no... neither.  They're produced in Mainland asia and shipped across the world from there.
