Well, it is 11 days into Feb. Maybe the game had a solid second week.

ps3's max output is 1080p at 60hz, It will need to output at 240hz for 3D, 120hz for each eye, and shutter glasses, and ofcourse a TV outputting at 240hz, hence the ps3 firmware update. And if you do some reasearch, it will actually increase the quality of any viewing, and the eye can detect up to 100hz, so the fast moving video will be smoother :)
I doubt they are shipped since he said "chose your side" and if they only shipped 500k theyd be severly supply constrained.
More than likely numerous users per copy.

But you saw all the links I provided that showed almost every store out of stock. Do you not believe they are supplied constrained or do you not believe its because of demand?

They aren't shipping as much as they can, and I honestly don't know why. Nintendo is doing the same thing

Because Sony (America) didn't order enough consoles from Sony. You don't get what you didn't order, it's as simple as that. Compare it to Sony (Europe) which has loads of PS3's stocked all over Europe..
Doesn't SCEA have there own factories in the U.S to produce PS3s?
Or do they only produce PS3s in japan?

I think the PS3s are built by Foxconn (Taiwan). They did build PS3s in Japan for Japan at the beginning, but I think when Sony sold both plants in Japan (the cell chip in Nagasaki, the rsx chip in Oita) they probably stopped manufacturing in Japan (which was expensive, anyway).

And if you did some research, you'd actually find that 48Hz output is what is needed (plus a signal code). You also need a display that can recognise the signal and triple it (and that is a tough one). This is what "the movie" (Avatar) is all about, a 144Hz frame rate sent to the glasses that operate at 72Hz each. You also need a HDMI 1.4 connector, and if you are lucky (or own a PS3) your current HDMI 1.3 can be software upgraded to HDMI 1.4 in one way or the other.
