Forums - Sony Discussion - Anyone have a concrete way to clean the inside of a PS3

Okay so i have an 80 Gig BC PS3 from 2007 but lately the fan has been coming on a lot. Especially when playing high end games like UC2.

I saw a thread on here awhile ago about cleaning the inside to get ride of the dust and then also about replacing the thermal paste. Does anyone know how to do this? I just want my PS3 to last as long as it can.

Also does anyone have any ideas or thoughts on the fan test?

Any other tips are welcome

Woah! Whatever you do, do not use concrete! Things way to delicate for that.

A can of compressed air or perhaps a vacuuming of the vents would help.

well yeah i have already done that but i know that you can clean the inside because there is dust that gets missed from the vacuum

my way requires opening up your ps3 but i recommend not to do that if you still have an active warranty. sony is slick as you peal the sticker (carefully or not) a hologram saying "void warranty" becomes visible on the sticker. so my other advice would be vacuum behind the opening where the fan releases the hot-air from

Open it it and blow it out. (if past warranty.)

I wouldn't use concrete if I were you.

Sounds like a way to make sure it doesn't break due to being crushed though system performance may vary.

i would say everybody has about covered it, just be careful with what you do, I have a rigid commercial wet/ dry vac I used it worked very well because being a wet/dry commercial vac it has much more power then a regular vac does, It did a good job, also you can buy one at a home depot or osh for 20-50 bucks, its worth it to have around, also works much better on vacuming your car then others.
