Forums - Gaming Discussion - (Rumor) Big Layoffs at Radical (Prototype)

Sems like selling more than 2 million copies is not enough for Activision. Apparently Canadian developer Radical, had a second layoff this morning:

From what I'm told they would still have one team? Not sure if thats from rehiring/transfers after the Acti-merger though. Somebody outside the company said they had 150-200 folks prior to today's events.

Back in 2008 they layoff 100 employees, if this new layoff is true the studio is mostly a shell.

It depends on how many people they are laying off this time.

I guess 1.9 million copies isn't worth the investment.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

Well it's official but seems like Activision is sweping the house quite hard

So radical has layoff, neversoft too and Luxoflux (Vigilante 8, Kung Fu Panda, Transformers) will be closed

Sad.

Selling 2 million isn't good enough?

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

Odd choice, I get the impression Activision never really wanted this studio in the first place from the merger so it was probably just a matter of time.

Why are Blizzard still hanging with Activision?

I LOVE ICELAND!

I hope they do a 'all the good people leave and start a new studio' thing. Then Activision can make Warcraft and Starcraft games until they're as frequent and unimaginative as CoD or GH, and we can get the game design talent doing what made Blizzard games great.
