So, after 2 weeks, the Wii version of Guitar Hero III is selling more than the PS2 version?

Sorry for the bad copy/paste.

I'm very surprised...considering the large, pre-existing GH userbase on the PS2. I expected it to sell more like how the 360 version is currently selling.

Any ideas why the PS2 version is underselling? I'm guessing some of them are kind of tired of Guitar Hero...thinking this game wouldn't be too great...or maybe it's the 360 or Wii stealing its thunder...with next-gen graphics and DLC on 360, or online play for both...

I was surprised at the (relatively) low sales of GH3 on the PS2. One factor could be that the 80s Edition was REALLY crappy compared to GH1/2, so maybe people thought GH3 was going to be another cash-in. Combine that with people owning one of the next-gen consoles and wanting downloadable content and online play...

no i think the ps2 version will have the better legs of 'em all so it should eventually level or pass the Wii version and the 360 version

Well it's the version with lightsaber controls on the Wiimote, however limited. 

Plus it could have released at a less competative time, but it's still a respectable opening. 



A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

The PS2 has sold 48 million units in the Americas. The Wii, 360, and PS3 have all together sold about 17 million in the Americas. So if every current gen console was bought by a previous PS2 owner who only bought 1 current gen console, that would mean there are still 37 million PS2 only owners as opposed to 17 million current gen owners.

There are still AT LEAST twice as many PS2 owners than people who own a current gen system. So just saying people are heading into current gen doesn't explain it.
