So let's say you were given the chance to do a remake of a movie adapted from a video game with the attempts of making it at the very least a half-decent movie.  What choices would you make, would you keep anything from the original film?

My choice would be Wing Commander.  Could make for a cool space saga if done right.

What I'd change:
Upscale the visuals and special effects via a bigger budget.
Make the visuals consistent with the games.
Hire a WAY better cast.
Find a good script writer.
Remove the whole Pilgrim substory.
Make the story explain the origins of the war with the Kilwrathi.

What I'd keep:
The music.
It's use of space battles.
