Hey Guys...

at first the good news: my Copy of Star Ocean is shipped, and may arrive tomorrow.

the bad thing is, that my PS3 crashed last night while i was playing god of war, and since then, i doesnt read any discs anymore... sometimes i get an error code if the Drive found the game and i try to start.

i resetted my PS3 already, because some fools on youtube told me it 'could' help. (whyever)

so, with Star Ocean coming, and FFXIII coming next month, i could commit suicide, to not to suffer.... but as the coward i am, i cant do that.

so.. what should i do? (or at least, try to do... i cant beg my grand parents, because i didnt visit them for over 2 years.. ^^", and my Parents would say that there are more important things than games... <- and they'd die while saying this)

Just send it back to Sony to fix. Cheaper than a new one, and potentially free.

Hmmm...I can't find right words.

i'd have to send it to TVS repair, the Guys doing that for Sony in Germany/Europe. and they're worse than a broken PS3, it takes AEONS to get it back, and it'll cost me 169 euro. buying a slim is more expensive, but its saved from any damage for a year due to guarantee, and i dont have to wait more than a month. ( okay, i have to wait if i want to save the money too...)

the solution i like the most atm is to visit my Bank, of course the PS3 would cost a bit more (330~ instead of 299) but if it works, i would get it very soon.

Can you describe the current symptoms in more detail? I was playing Eternal Sonata last summer one time and it got stuck on a load screen. It didn't crash, so I let it sit there. Even after five minutes it never left the load screen. I turned off the ps3 and wiped the disc off (just because?) and it played fine. A month later with Batman it got to a load screen and just sat there. I turned it off and put the game in, and there was nothing. It would no longer read the disc. It wouldn't read any discs at all of any type. Turned out my blu-ray diode was bad and I had to order a replacement laser assembly. It's pretty easy to put in and it's a common problem. You can test for this problem by starting up the ps3 with a disc inside and then eject the disc to see if it spun at all. If it did not spin then that is probably your problem. The next step would be to take the unit apart, remove the top from the drive (very easy to do all this) and get it to think a disc is inside (use one of the clear pieces of plastic that comes with a cd spindle) and upon power on look for three flashing lights. There should be a bright purple, then two red flashes (one is a byproduct of an IR pulse and is a very faint red). If you are like me, you will not see the bright purple.

It could be that with intermittant read issues your diode is on its way out.

I'd work my ass off for that month and a half, atleast you'll get a break from gaming, get some perspective, get outside and value your new console. Or I would try to find someone that can replace the drive, it doesn't need service, just some crafty technic. My friend had his disc drive changed couple of times on his PS2 and I've seen blue ray PS mechanics on ebay.

MY HYPE LIST: 1) Gran Turismo 5; 2) Civilization V; 3) Starcraft II; 4) The Last Guardian; 5) Metal Gear Solid: Rising

69 Euros and you can buy a new laser on amazon germany. And its not hard to fix.

star ocean isnt very good...so you need not worry about when its coming.
