Forums - Gaming Discussion - Do you think SONY influenced the reviews for Dante`s Inferno?

I doubt Sony paid them off, but I would be willing to believe that people took their opinion of God of War into the reviews (similar to taking their opinions of GH/RB into their review of Wii Music). And that has been a problem in a lot of the industry lately where the elitism of an existing franchise makes it hard for a newer IP to reach similar levels. And at times those new IPs don't need to be on the same level review wise, but animosity shoudn't be taken out on them just because of their similarities.

But know, I doubt Sony contributed any money to the review scores that Dante Inferno got and really I doubt they cared haha.

Too be honest,  I think Sony doesn't have that much to contribute to anyone anyway. hee

Oh yah, Sony probably paid the cost of the development of the game. They wanted to make a game so shitty that everyone would be wishing they had a ps3 and could play GOW3.
Sound also why Microsoft funded Haze so that everyone would know Halo was the bomb diddy.

This game is a joke compared to GoW 3, so I suggest you keep GoW out of this...sure some people will love DI (every game has fans)...but I cant help but think its another round of infamous vs Prototype where 360 fanboys around the internet hype a multi-platform as if its an exclusive...

DI's voice acting is horrible...specially Death in the demo
It tries to copy God of War, but doesn't meet the high standards set by it...for example, Dante doesn't have the same scale as GoW...GoW games are all about the huge areas and extremely huge puzzles...DI lacks that scale and you are seen fighting in small boxed areas where wave after wave of enemies come your way..Its repetitive, and frankly just average.
It makes a comedy of the divine comedy too...

DI isn't half as good as God of War...its merely a copy. Sony dont need to moneyhat reviewers.

Original >>>> Watered down copy

@OP

Why would Sony pay reviewers to do that? ..may I remind you that it was EA sent out cheques to deposit if you want and marking it as a test of your "greed" and don't forget that DI is also on PS3...
and GoW 1 & II are at 94 and 93 on metacritic...did Sony pay for those reviews too ?

God of War is the highest reviewed and highest selling slasher franchise. Its Epic. Its awesome. Its fun. And its unparalleled.
Dante's Inferno is just an imitation that could have been a worthwhile alternative to God of War..unfortunately Visceral tried to imitate God of War, by copying its combat system...But it failed to impress everywhere else..
One postive thing I see in DI is its atmosphere which looks pretty awesome..other than that its just an average game..
There are better slashers in the market now such as Bayonetta, Darksiders which are fairly new releases that are better than Dante's Inferno.

and OP have you even played GoW ?

How can a magic power be more "complex" than another magic power in a different game, I don't understand..Being complicated is good ?
You enjoy DI, thats your opinion...if thats true I'm sire you'll like GoW too...

Why would Sony have to do that? God of War is an established franchise, while Dante's Inferno is a new IP, I doubt that Dante's Inferno will be able to steal God of War's thunder.

Moreover, all the earnings that has been calculated on this thread is not even realistic. As far as I'm concerned, the XBox Live and Apple App Store offers the best returns for developers, which is 70% of the sale price. Taking into account 70% of 60 will be 42 per copy sold, and that is without considering the development costs, and there is no need for manufacturing costs or marketing costs. Developers generally earn only about 10 to 20 percent and considering that Sony is the publisher, they will probably earn about 30 to 40 percent. While on the other hand, they won't even have to lift a finger to get the publisher's share for Dante's Inferno, so why on Earth will they have to downplay it?

no cause bayonetta got good reviews, but i know what u mean gow is only hyped cause its exclusive, when people who really play that genre would put ninja gaiden, bayonetta, and devil may cry ahead of gow

Thats your opinion..but my opinion is

GoW II > DMC3 > GoW > Bayonetta (This might change when I play it more, but I think its overrated) > DMC > Ninja Gaiden

@GodOfWar_3ever - Just because a game isn't AAA exclusive material doesn't make it a joke, neither does it make it only attractive to a certain gamer on one console. You only further fuel comparison arguments when you belittle other games, this is why those comparisons end up so ugly. Finally you haven't played DI either so how do you know its just an average game, making such a revelation having not played through the game shows you to be hugely biased anyway on this topic so your words mean very little.

For the record I don't care about DI or GOW particularly anyway.

I am not sony nor do I own a ps3 and i can tell you the game is sub par compared to god of war. Sony doesn't have to pay me to say this...demo of the game is enough.

The game is not just mediocre, but its a blatant rip off. If you copy someone else, you better improve on the formula...

Even for 360 owners, I don't see how anyone would buy dantes inferno over Darksiders or Bayonetta.

Alos...its worth noting that PS3 version of Dantes inferno has a slightly higher review score on metacritic than X360. Sony did not influence reviews.

I actually agree with you, Darksiders and Bayonetta are better games. :O

I said compared to GoW its a joke because its clearly "inspired" by it, but not as good. Comparisions were done ever since this game was announced.

did you read my entire post or just the first line ?

If you don't care about either franchise I dont expect you to understand how DI copies GoW down to the T. And the demo was enough for me to deduce that it would be average because of its noticeable small scale and button mashable combat. I got a 236 hit combo in the demo by just mashing square. People (Haters) call GoW a button masher. Yes it is in the lower difficulties. But in the more challenging ones GoW is nightmarish...

haha i sure hope your joking? If so then yes im sure sony paid them to review this game poorly!

Long Live SHIO!

That sounds pretty silly honestly.

The game was going to get poor reviews from the start because of God of War and everyone talking about how huge a ripoff it was before anybody had even played it.

No money needed.
